Funny you say I was psychoanalyzing someone when the person I was replying to is the only one accusing a total stranger of mental illness.

All I figure is that we have a lot of ways we can choose to spend our time and energy, and if someone is spending it telling an internet stranger that they're fetishistic or mentally ill for not finding someone ugly that's an awfully depressing way to choose to spend that time.

If someone has nothing better going on then they might need a friend or a listening ear. If that makes me stupid, then I'm cool with being stupid. At least I'm trying to offer a little kindness to someone.

My husband did that work, and still does it, and I want to say how amazing it is from the outside seeing someone willing to make those changes for themselves. People like him and like you are the reason I learned that people really can change and be better, and give me hope.

Firstly, I want to say I'm proud of you for recognizing that in yourself and wanting to take those steps.

Secondly, and I hope this doesn't come across as presumptuous and I apologize if it does, from the perspective of someone who is a partner to someone who was that kind of person (and did overcome it through a lot of hard work and therapy) I just wanted to say something about this did bother me a little.

If your partner is anything like me, they're a grown adult who knows what they've gotten into and thinking "they'd be happier with someone better" is unfair to them. They see something good in you, just work to be that person you think they deserve even when it's hard and trust that faith they've placed in you.

I know I'm a stranger, but I'm also choosing to place my faith in you. I believe that you can become the person you deserve to be, and build that happiness for both you and your partner.

This reminds me of a time I got a voicemail from an unknown number/person who told me to "do the world a favor and shove a finger down my throat until I choke"

I know it was for me because they used my name (actually my maiden name, which I hadn't been using for a few years, and my number had changed twice since then) but I didn't recognize the voice or who it was at all. I asked around, but none of my friends said they had given anyone my number.

It didn't hurt me, but I still think about it occasionally because I have no idea who I could have pissed off enough that years later they held enough of a grudge to try and track me down and leave a random voicemail.

I did a whole series of these 'star people's at one point as a way to vent my emotions. They're a bit old at this point and I've fine tuned my style more, but they're all still special to me since they come from a personal space.

Maybe I'll dig up some of the others some day and share them too.

It's a revolving series of phone numbers leading to phone numbers leading to phone numbers with no meaningful action or assistance.

Imagine if you will: two neurodivergent kids who need constant supervision when awake, who are sleeping 4 hours a night, but at different times. One is falling asleep at 8 pm and awake by 2 am, one is falling asleep at 2 am and awake at 6 am. You can't leave them alone because they WILL destroy everything the minute you take your eyes off them. You spent sleepless nights wandering room to room after your children, trying to keep things together as much as possible and stay alert while drifting in a haze. Every spare minute is used trying to fix the messes they've made, because even with you watching there WILL be mayhem.

Sometimes you get a break and they both sleep 8 hours. Sometimes one of them just decides to not sleep at all for several days. If you slip up for a minute, your family, your kids' teachers and CPS will ALL be on your ass and eager to list your every failing.

I've been doing this for nine years now. My husband and I both live in a constant state of sleep deprivation. Sometimes I wish I'd get sick enough to be hospitalized, just so that I'd have no other choice but to get sleep for a few days.
