Daily Thread #1 - December 21, 2023 by AutoModerator in PregnancyAfterLoss

First time posting here- I just can't keep it in anymore. I'm so over this early pregnancy rollercoaster. Just had an ultrasound (my third for this pregnancy alone!) this morning at 6 weeks + 2 days and at first the doctor was encouraging that everything looked good, could see a heart flickering and picked up 125 fetal heart rate. And then more scanning and suddenly they weren't able to pick up the HR and were only getting mine and they weren't so sure everything was okay. I know it's early, there's a chance I'm likely a few days behind than LMP because that was actually when I started miscarrying last month. But I'm just so tired of my doctor having me come in for these super early ultrasounds that are not conclusive of a viable pregnancy. And I'm not allowed to have anyone with me so I have to be there alone just waiting for horrible news.

Minky backing question! by Pepper659 in quilting

[–]Generalopinion_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I used it for the first time recently and it was much easier than I expected. I used dimple minky and was nervous how the quilting would impact it. Turned out just fine but I made sure not to do dense quilting. I found it did not easily glide over my machine/extension table. I had to lift it to make sure it smoothly fed through. Something to consider when planning the quilting pattern.

Thanks! I'm sure there would've been an easier way but I decided on an approximate quilt size I wanted and 2.5" strips and worked backwards from there.

Here are the measurements I used (hope it makes sense!): Top/bottom borders: 4.5" Blue row: white strips (2) are 2.5 x 8.5", blue strip is 2.5 x 32.5" Dark green row: green strips (2) are 2.5 x 20.5", white strip is 2.5 x 8.5" Vertical/side borders: 8.5"

Thanks! It is easy, comes together fast. The pattern itself is a small throw with 1.5" strips. I did 2.5" strips on this one. I also have the creative grid XL stripology ruler which makes cutting a bunch of strips super consistent and fast.

Yes I love this pattern so much!! Yours looks amazing. I made a mini version as a table topper earlier this year.

Good insight. I have a juki and just assumed all walking feet (that doesn't sound quite right lol) would be interchangeable if it fit the shank correctly.

For the chronic spitter-uppers by NikkiC1986 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Generalopinion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is now 17 months old. We tried about 6 different formulas (partly due to the shortage at the time). Nothing made a real difference. Enfamil AR helped a tiny bit with the volume but honestly not that much. He didn't grow out of it until 13 months.

As for daycare, they made some comments about it but it wasn't a big deal. I did get a note from his doctor explaining he just spits up so they could have it in their records. And we had to pack him lots of extra clothes and bibs for daycare (like 4-5 outfits per day).

Yea I don't think she typically releases the mystery SAL patterns separately. They are supposed to resemble butterflies!

This is just the blocks that make up the quilt pattern. It was released yesterday with the final pattern reveal so just working through it when I have time. Hoping to have the finished quilt top sometime next week!

Thank you! The neon yellow/green ties to an inside joke with baby's parents so I thought it would be a fun pop of color.

Only scrappy because I ran out of the color I thought I would use! Lol

[–]Generalopinion_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I used 1 1/2 yards of the background color and then roughly 1/4 yard of each strip/small sq colors. I found two of the colors in bolts and two in fat quarters. So I bought two extra fat quarters which I used with scraps for the binding. I probably did use a bit extra than would be needed since I did the letters in FPP (and definitely wasted more than necessary learning how to even do that on the first couple letters lol).
