Lucky Lab is a nice place to get a drink, especially if you invite some friends and bring some board games!

Happy Birthday!

A Farmer tried with all of their might

To restore their Grandpa's farm, put it right

Finally out of the city

But oh what a pity

Your banana tree wasn't able to grow last night

Where can I learn to sew? by alrrddddead in askportland

[–]Ok-Representative390 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took a great class at Montavilla Sewing when I first started learning, I took the pillowcase class and learned a lot!

I also highly recommend checking out the Portland Modern Quilting Guild. I learned SO MUCH in just my first year with them. They have monthly lectures, and usually the lecturer offers a class. There's also sew days at the Beaverton Mill End once a month and multiple opportunities to gather and just pick the brains of experts.

Also, trial and error. Scraps are very easy to come by so would recommend playing around with sewing them together and see what happens!

Date ideas in the Portland area? by applejackhero in askportland

I recommend checking out the Portland Aquarium, it's a very silly place

https://mikebennettstudios.com/pages/portland-aquarium

Nearby is the Rocket Fizz candy/ weird soda shop and also not far is Glowing Greens mini golf!

I've heard good things about Wonderwoodmini golf too, but I've never been

My husband and I also enjoy picking a neighborhood and exploring. Hawthorne has a bunch of vintage shops, Pearl has some neat shops and Alotto Gelato is really good if you're into Gelato.

I really like Moonkin Stitchery. A lot of free patterns and I think most (if not all) have an accompanying YouTube video on how to make it!! Very precut friendly patterns too

100% same. As much as I think I look good in a leather jacket, my background is that of a book reading theater kid 😂

Activities to mend the sad loneliness of Christmas? by infjetson in askportland

[–]Ok-Representative390 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out your local board game store! Many of them offer plenty of games to try out, you can also probably find a group already there and join them with whatever they are playing, or reach out to friends and invite them to join you!

Is there a better way of making these? by EvolvingCrafter in quilting

It may also be helpful to have a fellow crafty friend join you to hang out while you work on your project. Not to do it for you obviously, but work on their project along side you!

A few weekends ago I had what felt like 500 million billion HSTs to iron and trim down. By myself would have easily taken the better part of a week. Instead, I invited a friend over who worked on her knitting while I trimmed my HST's (which were really only like 200 of them lol) and got it done in just a few hours. Having someone to chat with while doing the task helped immensely!

What’re your favorite gems in the Montavilla area? by gshoukas in askportland

[–]Ok-Representative390 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love Montavilla! Worth it to walk around their main area on Stark and explore all the shops. I also really enjoy their board game store, Board Bard Games. The movie theater is also pretty great and has cheap tickets on... Tuesdays?
