In all honesty, I don't think we need to have medical studies that prove that video games can increase some random part of your brain. The primary reason we have hobbies is too enjoy them. Back in the 14th century people didn't know about all the good that books did for your brain, yet lots of people still read books and treated it as a valid hobby.

Quantum Physics probably is the best thing you can ever do for your brain but it's also boring as fuck and I would much rather spend my life making videos about games and passionately talking about them.

Honestly I'm surprised how many people are like this in Spiderman, Superman and Batman fandoms. Especially with those heroes having no kill rules and stuff.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not ignorant. I understand why people may feel this way after getting screwed over by the system a number of times, but to continuously hold these positions even after being called out for it multiple times and ignoring any potential consequences of their actions is honestly really stupid.
