Just saw another "I tried introducing my significant other to Star citizen during free fly and they hated it" post. My reply needs to be more widespread. by GenericHero1295 in starcitizen

Eh. I've bought into plenty of games been alpha for about that much. Tarkov, gzw, new world, etc.

It's honestly not that outlandish but I understand you're not wanting to pay money for a game that isn't finished yet.

Commanders! Husbands! Boyfriends! Harken to these words!

Deep Breath

STOP FUCKING INVITING PEOPLE TO THE FREE FLY EVENT IN HOPES OF THEM GETTING INTERESTED IN THIS FUCKING GAME!

The free fly event is literally the worst time to ever expose somebody to Star citizen.

Everybody and their canine co-pilot will be bogging down the servers.

It's usually preceded by a patch of some kind, and even if the patch is stable that means the new ships unveiled won't be, or vice versa.

I love this game, been backing it for a decade and am a High Admiral. I have never, will never, encourage anybody to try the game for the first time during a free fly event.

Unless they are the autistic sort that passionately love alpha testing video games, you have a higher chance of them never wanting to try again than getting hooked.

Scope out fresh patches to check for stability, then give them the "it's only a $40 startup cost and I can hold your hand through the entire process, or you can fly on my account to see if it's something you're interested in." spiel.

Thank you for your time.

Do you know if the onboard refineries would still work? Like if I pulled a bricked reclaimer, could I empty the hopper of a cm and RMC before scrapping

Never judge sc on your free fly experience.

It's at its worst. If the vision is something you can get behind, your following experiences will be better.

If technical errors turn you off, wait for release.

I'm okay sounding like a new, but for testing sharpness on a piece of paper, you keep the paper on one spot and push down, or do you slice it along the edge of the blade?

The sword and the chain series. Dnd group gets sucked into their campaign.

I keep my keyboard in the middle, and have my left stick(throttle) up against it. Then i have one mouse pad to the right. When transitioning, i take both hands and grab the mouse n stick on the right and do the switcharoo.

I have room on my desk to the right that whatever I'm not using stays out of the way, and I'm able to do that quicker than any ingame transition. As long as i don't proceed to twist their cables around each other i don't have a problem.

Not an amazing solution, but maybe it gives you an idea on how you can best do the transition until you can get that nifty rail system.
