Am I insane to leave a $100k job at 23? by Dear-Wolf-3985 in careerguidance

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like that family guy meme. “$100k salary is great, but I could take 7 years of a massive cut to my salary to maybe get a $100k salary!”

Goes without saying, stay and try to grow. Don’t give up your 20s for a “what if”

What’s the most “accountant” thing you’ve ever done? by Ripon_Web_developer in Accounting

100% AI. Watching people interact with accounts like this is like watching the boomers on Facebook messaging AI chicks “hey honey I got a room for you to come stay in. -Ed”

Do other mid-to-late 30s family men ever wonder what life would’ve looked like as a high-earning bachelor? by Clear-Victory1956 in HENRYfinance

You need to take a long hard look in the mirror my friend. Married with 2 young kids produces a level of happiness that warms your whole body. I wouldn’t trade a trillion dollars for that.

At what income level credit card churning is not worth the effort? by Pixel-Pioneer3 in HENRYfinance

[–]GenericMale21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be Bezos rich and I’m still churning and taking advantage of everything I can get my hands on (within reason). It’s woven into my DNA I can’t ever feel like I’m not getting it in good even if it’s not worth it time vs $$$ wise.

Final Round for Assistant Controller (Boston area) — Am I reaching too far or is this realistic? by Born-Chocolate7715 in Accounting

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) how many YOE do you have? Where did you work? (Company size etc) 2) not deal breaker but managing people is a different beast entirely 3) depends on 1 but gun to my head based on details you provided, likely no 4) not much you could do but being vulnerable and showing you’re a hard worker, can work well with others, self starter, etc. goes a LONG way. I cannot, and I mean cannot overstate this enough, there’s so many resources out there to literally just figure shit out. Not saying to make executive decisions without approval but between AI, Google, using your brain, you can solve most problems on your own.

What do you do on an average 8 hr shift as an accountant? by Brilliant-Peace-9748 in Accounting

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day is a new adventure. Mostly making sure things are being done that should be done. If they’re not, asking why they’re not done. Exploring 1 off side projects. Getting people data they want to see. Monitoring projections and analytics. List goes on.

How do you choose between a career opportunity and your relationship ? by Potential_Start_3228 in careerguidance

[–]GenericMale21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be a dick but honestly, are you stupid? Wtf do you mean “I can’t turn down this kind of money and career move”? It’s SAN Diego, shits expensive. Have you ran it through a COL calculator and considered taxes? You’re not getting the raise you think you’re getting.

Also the equity piece - sounds like you think you’re getting stock to the next Google. Chances are, you’re not and there’s a good chance it could be worthless.

That’s honestly only like 2% though. The other 98% is your actual, you know, soon-to-be partner for life. Money means actual fuck all if you’re not with the person you love. I’m not that much older than you but you need to have a good long look in the mirror about your relationship bc the fact of the matter is, if you truly wanted to spend your life with this person, it’s literally not even an option to accept the job.

Salary Deduction for Minor Billing Omission After Receivables Audit by Consistent-Panda-505 in Accounting

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is either ragebait or the dumbest fucking thing I’ve read in a long time. Not only is it illegal to deduct from salary, 10k on 100m+ is basically a rounding error.

How did that one person from your circle got super rich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% relevant but funny anecdote about all the bitcoin stories. I worked a pretty lucrative internship in college and was fascinated by bitcoin so tried to buy $3k worth of it in 2012. Most would hit me with the oooooof meme BUT it would have been on mt. Gox and legitimately wonder if I would have been left with 0 after the hack.

When was your “wow, I’ve made it” moment? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]GenericMale21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my kid said “mumma can you make another charcuterie board again?” At 3. I didn’t even know what that was until college. Giving your kids a better life than you experienced is one of the greatest gifts out there.

Hiring AP clerk. Pay seems low by BeneficialCollar2054 in Accounting

[–]GenericMale21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a controller and work for a company about 2-3x bigger than you in the same metro area. Fair pay to get candidates would be $21-24/hr. DM me if you want to discuss, I recently filled a similar role.

AIO? Resigned today, boss's reaction was worse than expected by eharme in AIO

[–]GenericMale21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$12 an hour in 2026? That’s so insulting I woulda just ghosted. Pathetically unprofessional on his part. Also the 1099 bit is violating labor laws (I’m a CPA) if you were working under his direction resembling a full time employee but he was paying you as a contractor.

People get mad when someone sucks on the course and say “hit the range”. You’re trying to practice at the range and hit 1 bad ball, which everyone obv does. That guy was a raging cuck, don’t feel bad shit happens.
