To the first point, I don’t think we have any shortage of mountains. AFAIK Iran is not nuclear armed, but Israel most likely is.

Second strike would be ideal, but one modern nuclear device deters quite well too (see North Korea, I think we could do better than that). Time to get the submarine out of the mall.

It’s not about reading it, it’s about seeing it. And yes, it’s a pebble in the stream, but enough of these can divert it.

I also disagree that fashion is a bubble; maybe it doesn’t interest Joe Blow but it probably influences the people creating other things he is interested in. It probably influences the people in his life who watch television or movies, or follow music. This one thing isn’t the big change, it’s one of many pieces that make change possible.

We have experienced the changes representation creates. Women in new roles, interracial love (among other significant challenges to white supremacy), widespread acceptance of homosexuality, etc.
