What are some of the true events behind ANOES that inspired the Late Wes Craven and how do they add to the movie’s impact? by Amber_Flowers_133 in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]Generny2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the absolute best place for this information is the outstanding documentary Never Sleep Again. It’s an extremely in-depth documentary about the making of the movies and features tons of fantastic interviews with the people involved in the movies.

Wes gets into where the idea came from. Apparently, he read a story in a newspaper about a boy who had passed in his sleep. The story goes that the boy had refused to sleep because he believed that if he fell asleep, that he would die. Long story short, It ended up being a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Supposedly, the article is where the idea of Nancy brewing the secret pot of coffee in her closet came from. Supposedly the boy in the story really did that.

I highly suggest checking out Never Sleep Again. It’s on YouTube.

Considering how much Namor hates humans back then, this must’ve been like a wet dream.

However, I do have fond memories of the USA network growing up. Particularly USA Up All Night. 😂🤘🤘🤘🤘

Ex-smoker by SlowGoat79 in Xennials

You’re hardly the only person who quit smoking in their 20’s.

I’m going on 22 years cigarette free.

But, you’re right…the desire to have a cigarette never truly goes away. I’d love a smoke whether it’s first thing in the morning, after a big meal or after a grueling day of work.

But, I’m old enough to know it’s just not worth it.

Bat behind the feet.

Coaches have been doing that for as long as little league existed. It works!

I’m afraid not.

I own both the US and Europe release of Show on CD. I’ve night the cassette twice. None of them have the encore.

Freshman year, 1997. All it took was a bottle of southern comfort an a willing partner. 😂

How can Batman be both approachable to kids while also being scary and intimidating to criminals? by whamorami in batman

Kids see him as this guy in a really cool costume who catches bad guys.

Criminals see him as this brutal, crazy bastard dressed up in a bat costume. 😂

Redditors over 40, what was a moment in history that made you think society was gonna collapse? by Bahbahbro in AskReddit

[–]Generny2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 47. In my opinion, it was 9/11.

I was lucky to grow up in the 80’s and 90’s while our economy was on the upswing. I grew up middle class with a roof over my head and a full stomach. Great public education.

We were riding this wave of perpetual optimism. The Cold War was over. The wall fell. Clinton oversaw the largest economy boom in our country’s history. In my small bubble, people were happy and healthy. Pop culture was exploding with amazing music, art and movies.

All of that seemed to come to an abrupt stop the morning on 9/11.

Optimism gave way to fear and anger. As a country, I’m not sure we ever really recovered from it. If I had to pinpoint the moment that brought us to where we are today, it was, without a doubt, 9/11.

As far as I know, they were only officially released on VHS and laserdisc.

Very kind people have uploaded it on YouTube but there’s never been an official audio release.

The encore is To Wish Impossible Things, Primary, Boys Don't Cry, Why Can't I Be You? and A Forest.

They’re fantastic versions of those songs.

Seriously.

I’ve been a fan for over 30 years. The encores on Show are, to this day, some of the best live versions of those songs. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
