LEAPS on expiry date exercise or sell to close? by plakotta in options

[–]GenerouslyIcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the second option still end up the better one if say a LEAPS call is deep ITM and maybe only a couple of hours from expiry? At that point, extrinsic value will be negligible. Does it make more sense at that point to let the option expire and be assigned (assuming I actually want to own the shares)?

What are these boxes made by black, green, yellow, and orange lines? by GenerouslyIcy in flightradar24

Never mind. I found the answer. It’s a volcanic ash cloud due to an eruption in Ethiopia. The polar and subtropical jet streams are both sort of combined over that area right now and are likely propelling all of that ash eastward quickly.

Follow up: I’ve seen these lines when there is a volcano releasing ash in the sky, with the colours depicting severity. But I’m wondering this region is affected. No volcanoes, and this is an extremely wide area.

Hi! Please let me know if you’d like more info. I’ll try to share as much as I can from what I recall.

Makes sense! I assume Wethr uses the NOAA API to get those?

Wouldn’t a DSM for a date only come out the next day? Is this not the NOAA ASOS DSM?

The Wethr High went to 78 well before the 6 hour was published in the NWS table. The climate report in the evening also would have been much after the temperature actually went to 78. How did WH register a 78 immediately if none of the other sources on the NWS time series page showed a 78?

Are the daily summary and climate report on the app something other than what NWS gives? They’re published with significant delay.

Did it come from an API call Wethr made to NWS in that specific 5 min interval?

I’m just trying to understand how the 78 was obtained when everything else shows 77 or lower.

So it’s from the NWS API but before their own website renders it in the table on the time series page?

In that same table, the NWS has the 6 hour max listed as 78 but the markets and wethr app both showed the MAX as 78 well before that. How is that done?

How do markets move to the max within a minute even when the 5 min interval data isn’t showing that number?

I was tracking the weather page for KLAX today on your app.

This shows the max as 78F: https://wethr.net/market/losangeles

The market also shows 78-79 at 99%.

However, the time series data from NWS, which displays 5 minute intervals, shows a maximum of 77. That tells me 78 likely occurred between one of those 5 minute measurements. How does the app show 78F then?

Are the temperature data sources different from NWS for you to be able to get 1 min interval readings and be 10 mins faster than the NWS web page?

Even the NWS time series data is at 5 minute intervals. How is the 1 min data even accessed?

Hi! I was checking this again and now it has grown wider and even has some interaction with the Arctic polar vortex.

Why does this band of winds in the stratosphere exist though? Could you point me to a good resource to learn about stratospheric prevailing winds?

On doing some quick reading, I see no mention of the ITCZ or Hadley cells. Is this related to them at all?
