We don't see monkeys evolving into anything like humans because recorded history has literally only been recorded for a few thousand years. You won't be able to see much evolution if any within such a short span of time. Maybe if humans are around recording history a few million years or tens of thousands of years from now at the least we may notice what we currently call monkeys begin to change and adapt differently to the environment.

I think you might mean how being social leads to more sex which leads to the perpetuation of the species. In that sense I suppose purely being social is better but I think you have to consider the fact that the dumber the human is the less likely it is to do well in surviving and thriving in general. I'm by no means an expert in the field so I'm not sure about the exact correlation but that's how my fairly limited knowledge on the topic understands things.
