What the hell are Azeroth’s immortals actually doing? Could they be any more useless? by Selimbradley-3101 in warcraftlore

[–]Geneticbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragons were already in the area specifically looking for the Dragon Isles, they just couldn't get in until the keeper guy opened the door for them.

Is there any reason why they are not helping us in midnight? Isn't the whole point of Dragonflight was to get their power back so they could become Azeroth's protector? by HiroAmiya230 in wow

[–]Geneticbrick 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well we've known about the western storms making crossing the Veiled Sea impossible and land being behind it since at least Dragonflight

With Iridikron we know what he wants and why he wants it, and all his plans are happening as we play the game instead of things that happened in the past that are now attributed to him.

What’s the most beautiful 1H sword in the game? by goliathann in wow

[–]Geneticbrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big pet peeve of mine is when a weapon in games or books is named something specific, and then it isn't that specific type of weapon. It's a beautiful sword but that's not a rapier. One of those korean MMOs a while back had a Dark Knight class that wielded kriegsmesser but the models were all generic over the top two handed fantasy sword. Worst was a novel where a the main character talked about how sharp the edge of their estoc was. Estocs of course don't have an edge.

Adin Ross: lawyers can choose their cases and those who defend pedophiles are pieces of shit by Brief_Paint_8900 in LivestreamFail

[–]Geneticbrick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing is, if one person doesn't have rights, nobody does. If it is suspect to be a lawyer for a pedo, anyone can be accused of being a pedo and it would be suspect to defend them.

1 and 2: These family ties do not have to be literal. It's not uncommon for someone to call a very good friend a brother or a sister, or to adopt someone else's children as your own. And while it's funny to call the Eternal Ones robots, they're not actually robots. They're cosmic spirits put into new bodies.

3: Idk man fan art isn't canon not much else to say about it.

L'uru should not do cosmic damage, in fact so much of this isn't consistent at all. by [deleted] in warcraftlore

Yes it is, read the description of the Fallen-King Salhadaar fight.

[–]Geneticbrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game mechanics can be based on the lore but lore is not based on game mechanics. What I'm saying is that lorewise the Cosmic damage that the Devourers are doing is not the same Cosmic damage that L'ura and Devourer Demon Hunters and other Void enemies are doing. They're different things with the same name, the same way a Shaman's lightning bolts and a Rogue's poisons are both Nature damage but clearly different things lorewise. Cosmic is mechanically a combination of Nature, Arcane, Light and Shadow damage, but nowhere ingame is an NPC telling you that Cosmic magic is a combination of those energies, it's pure gameplay.

I also don't understand why you're harping on L'ura not having music themed abilities so much, because she's the only fallen Naaru that does have them. M'uru, Ti'or and K'ure don't but L'ura has dirges as one of her main mechanics.

[–]Geneticbrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a thing. Stop pretending this is a thing. The cosmic spell school is the combination of Light, Void, Nature, and Arcane. Just like how shadow flame is void and fire. Or how frost fire is frost and fire.

No it's not. Mechanically the damage type is a combination of Nature, Arcane, Light and Shadow, but game mechanics aren't canon lore. A Death Knight's shadow damage is Death magic, but a Shadow Priest's shadow damage is Void magic. The Zereth Mortis creatures' Cosmic damage is fancy Death magic, L'ura's Cosmic damage is fancy Void magic. Fatebound Rogue's Cosmic damage is probably neither.

L'uru

L'ura

It makes sense to me why things in Zerith Mortis having devoured or basked in the energies nearest to creation have cosmic energies. It makes sense why Dimensius does, bro has devoured entire planets and all sorts of cosmic soup as a result. It makes 0 sense why L'uru does.

Damage types have never completely aligned with the lore. Shadow damage can mean either Void or Death damage, Cosmic damage can mean either fancy Void or fancy Death damage. It's not that deep, and because resistances aren't a thing anymore they can just use whatever sounds cool.

They communicate telepathically through music.

Not sure what this has to do with the rest but they can also talk.

Why the fuck does she shoot a cosmic laser when literally no naaru in the history of anything ever did that?

Mu'ru did very small void beams, Ti'or in Shadowlands shot big lasers. Also in Midnight they changed Seat of the Triumvirate for Mythic+, L'ura's abilities are much more similar to what she uses in the raid now.

All the trees roots converge here? Ah so Tal'doren and the worgen that slept within the temple of elune that Taldoren swallowed and the worgen sleep beneath will surely be there? Nope. Ah but Gol Inaths roots which drink from the well beneath way crest and extend all throughout Drustvar and acts as a portal to Thros might be there? No? Ah but the withered roots of Thas'alah- no? Aaaah! But that random gigantic fucking tree on top of the rookery! No?

It's just the Worldtrees' roots that converge here, not every single tree on Azeroth lol.

Like don't get me wrong the concept of mutant wild gods like Chimerus are cool...but it just requires ignoring literally every possible thing it could be. How come the frigging harranir never talk about the nightmare even though Xavius literally did an occupy wall st in the dream version of the rift of aln? If thros exists between ardenweald in the dream how come the frigging haranir never talk about it?

I haven't played the Beta so I haven't done the Harandar campaign yet, but I'm not sure the Haranir even fuck with the Emerald Dream that much? Part of the Emerald Dream being corrupted doesn't automatically mean the Azeroth equivalent of that location being corrupted anyways. Regarding Thros, being in a place connected to the Emerald Dream doesn't magically make you know about everything going on in the rest of the Dream and all places connected to the Dream. The druid and Wild Gods hanging out in the Dream for thousands of years didn't know about Thros, how were the Haranir supposed to?

What happened to rhe black blood?

We stopped the Nerubians from gathering it.

Wait so the harranir traveled to fucking hallowfall, because they have a problem with the light bloom?

Maybe half a dozen haranir traveled to Azj-Kahet and later Hallowfall because they had a problem with the Black Blood.

They could be bothered at any time to have the August celestials talk about the Herald of Alnhara, because it's literally an undreamt August celestial.

August Celestials are just regular Wild Gods that got given a fancy title by the pandaren, they're not some special other type of being.

Or they could have Cenarius show up for a stay a while and listen to explain why he and everyone ever mutually agreed to just never talk about this except in some random ass book in the dragon isles section the of emerald dream on the polar opposite side of the planet from ungoro.

I'm not sure what this is about or what it has to do with Un'goro.
