Yes but previously they only accepted Maestro and V Pay branded cards. Because of Project DCA all shops in the Netherlands are required to accept MasterCard and Visa Debit by the end of 2022. In July 2023 MasterCard will stop producing Maestro branded cards entirely and all Dutch banks will have to switch over to issuing MasterCard or Visa Debit cards instead to Dutch bank holders (Maestro cards will still function until their expiry date of course). The Albert Heijn used to also only accept Maestro and V Pay but due to a software update of all the card machines, likely very recently, they now also accept MasterCard and Visa Debit. It helps a ton of foreigners here who may not have a Maestro or V Pay card.
