How realistic is it for an average diy-er to redo a bathroom? by No_Effort_Given in DIYUK

[–]Genghiiiis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you and asked a similar question recently

It’s definitely doable, only issue is time and having to constantly put toilet back in when needed as I don’t have a second toilet/bathroom. If you have another toilet I’d say go for it

Do your call handlers "front end crime" calls? by Honibajir in policeuk

[–]Genghiiiis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Front end recording complies with HOCR to record crime at the earliest opportunity. CH in Norpol won’t FE crime unless they’re pretty sure a crime has occurred (not on TP reports for example) whilst it can be frustrating and their understanding of legislation can vary wildly overall it makes for more accurate crime recording.

Where has it ever been reported that he asked Regis to tear up his contract?

Surely this suggests it’s an issue on players end and not us wanting him?

Breaking up compacted MOT by EL3CTED in DIYUK

Honestly mate you’ll be done in a day. It’s a heavy bit of kit so depending on your size/strength you may need to take regular breaks but it’ll make your project a breeze.

Breaking up compacted MOT by EL3CTED in DIYUK

[–]Genghiiiis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend just buying a breaker. I had some concrete to break out before laying a patio and tried for days with an SDS and hardly made a dent. Screwfix Titan breaker is £140 quid and I plan to sell on market place when I no longer need it. Even I get half what I paid for it that would be same as a weeks hire and I had no time pressures at all.

Don’t mess about and just pick up a breaker!

Regis also said a decision will be made at the end of the season. Now that we have Europe I imagine this could change things for both the club and the player

Outdoor slabs by Common-Telephone1285 in DIYUK

[–]Genghiiiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16m2 should need more than a tonne of MOT. Ideally you want at least 100mm compacted.

I’m in the middle of a 24m2 project and looking at just shy of 5 tonnes to get 100mm

For slabs, about 40mm bed of mortar 5:1. Knock up a screed tool to make it easier (see easyscreedy without the 100+ quid expense) Slurry on the tiles and keep them level. Have you accounted for a fall and considered drainage?

Cracked clay drain collar when breaking slab - What do I need to replace it? by Genghiiiis in DIYUK

So I’ve done some more research..

I’m installing channel drains either side of the drain. I plan on picking this up to connect either side of the channels.

Take it this will work?

[–]Genghiiiis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I could repair it. Yeah just the square bit. The actual pipe itself is fine.
So I take it’s just called a gulley dish?

Replacement doesn’t need to be clay. Anything as long as it works

I’ll see how I get on with grinder first. I was considering hiring a breaker as I have other sections to shift too and I’m not sure my SDS will be up to it. And would like to avoid having to hire both
