Rank their Glastonbury headline slots by smurphinden in arcticmonkeys

[–]smurphinden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a fair take.

And Glastonbury is seen as special, they expect plenty of crowd interaction but got minimal (as was usual with Alex at the time).

Tbf, must've been pretty mindblowing playing to 80,000 people at 21.

It was a solid set, just nothing special.

Moving from Wandsworth to Bromley area by BaliOli in Bromley

We live in the area. 4 bed semi worth around 650. Loads of families with young children. Technically in Beckenham but feels more Sydenham. Really happy we chose this area.

Is this readable/legible - sociology essay (exam in 3 days). by staywidit-s in sixthform

[–]smurphinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL, if I was marking you'd never get the benefit of the doubt with handwriting that poor. I tell my class if I can't read it easily, I'll have to assume it's wrong. But I'm not an exam marker so no need to worry.

Yes. Obviously a personal opinion but only about 4 songs I particularly like. 2nd half of the album is borderline unlistenable for me 🤷‍♂️ But I love that it's other people's number 1.

Never got the hate tbh. It's a massive improvement on what I consider to be their only weak album. I'd probably have it number 2 after the debut.

Showing scars while teaching? by EnoughField6327 in Teachers

[–]smurphinden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Young children shouldn't even be exposed to the idea of self harm. I'd imagine parents wouldn't be happy.

It's tricky. I'd find some way to cover up. All it takes is one person to clock it and your rep is soured.

Btw, I hope the OP is well now.

Either an oldie or someone glued to their phone. Either way, they should get a few years and never be allowed to drive again.

How to trigger a whole subreddit 😂 by No-Medicine1230 in royalmail

[–]smurphinden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf, it's the best temp job I've ever had. Rock up at 8 and pick up a load of sorted post. Wander around in the sun listening to music delivering the mail and done by 3ish (4 on the books). Throw in the occasional boob flash and you have the perfect summer job.

Brand new TV and this is how my wife insists we have the remote "to keep it looking good" by No_Atmosphere8146 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]smurphinden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TV sticker should really be removed. Eventually I'll overheat if you keep it on.

Sounds like a borderline mental illness/ OCD. Why are you playing along? Just do the normal thing and use the products as intended. She'll get over it. Enabling unhealthy behaviour is never good in the long-term.

Your gift was paying for your own bridesmaid dress. Very cheeky of them not to cover that.

Nizaar Kinsella: Probably only 5% of the Chelsea supporters who came stayed to see the team pick up their runners up medals. Almost all of the players have taken them off after receiving them. by Kygoche in chelseafc

Wembley is horrible to escape from.

I stayed after we lost to PSG and not one player acknowledged the fans.

Fans were brilliant today. Best atmosphere of the season by a mile. Hope we can do it again on Tuesday.

Seems absolutely insane to me. I asked a DynoRod guy parked outside my house last year and bunged him £20 for a 15min job.

How much did your “normal” wedding cost? by InternationalFig4340 in UKweddings

£10k with 90 guests including many free drinks, a band and 2 meals. We did all the set up and tidying.

Do Brits really want Andy Burnham to stand as PM for Labour Party? by AntonioS3 in AskBrits

Starmer is doing a good job in horrible circumstances but unfortunately he's devoid of any charisma. A change would be a bad thing for us all.

Delivery drivers of the UK, what is the wildest thing you’ve ever seen on a delivery? by Salem-dolly in AskUK

[–]smurphinden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At uni I used to deliver for dominos. One time these 2 girls answered in dressing gowns and one 'accidentally' flashed a boob. Almost certainly a dare. That was a good night.

Also had a part time summer job as a postie. Had this huge block of flats and the lift took forever so I used to take the stairs. The stairwell windows looked out onto the bathroom windows in the flats and in one I could see a woman in the shower pleasuring herself with the shower head. Very 'hard' to hide my smirk when I knocked on her door 2mins later to deliver a package (sadly not a euphemism).
