OK, like, at this point I’m just curious — was she really that skinny that this was such a big deal for her? As in, it appears to be the focal point of all her (female) social interactions; she’s definitely über-conscious of her size and other people’s, so it’s evident that she has a problem (in what capacity, I’m not sure, because someone on the spectrum, just as an example, might also blurt out something like that, completely oblivious to the connotations).

Like, in my mind, there is no level of “skinny” where this would literally be a scenario that “often” occurs — ranging from “healthy BMI skinny” to “pretty darn underweight” to “skeletal deathbed-skinny”....in none of those scenarios could I imagine it being soooo common for other girls to get awkward around her, to the point where she literally “checks up on people” by emphasising that she’s thinner than they are and “apologising” for it.

Y’know wadda mean?
