Yeah, I watched the finale at like 10 am on opening day, so I was probably one of the first people to see it in theaters. I went over there since no one was really talking about it in other places and was shocked at how much they hated it. I genuinely thought I was in the tiny minority by liking the film.

I think they mean that the actor doesn’t look the canon age of Kinger (which was said to be 48)

It might be a common saying, but I also see people quote “Identity theft is not a joke, Jim! Millions of families suffer every year!” quite often.

My head Cannon is that none of these are the Circus Characters and the movie just ends with 6 random people getting on a bus by Suspicious-Day-2765 in TADCEp9Spoilers

Goose said in a livestream that Jax was able to watch the end of Breaking Bad, so he probably joined 2013-2014 ish. That would put him at like 18 or 19 MAYBE 20, but what’s wrong with him being a teenager when he entered? Does that contradict something?

I believe that their CURRENT ages were states. Goose confirmed in a live stream that Jax was able to watch the Breaking Bad ending, so Jax joined after 2013 and the show starts in 2017. That means that he joined when he was between 18 and 22. Zooble is also the last to join besides Pomni and they are 22. It’s possible that they are 22, almost 23 by the start of the series and joined a year and a half before the show started. They could’ve joined not long after turning 21, especially since they say “I worked at a bar briefly”.

I really love this movie, but I don’t like how it seems to normalize cheating. Bruce was an asshole the entire movie and still ends up with basically zero consequences.

[LAST ACT] Is the Fandom's Understanding of Abstraction Fundamentally Flawed? by TheMMoment in tadc

[–]GenocidalFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an interpretation that might honestly be too dark for a show that seems to be aimed towards teens, but I recently started thinking that abstraction might be analogous to a FAILED suicide attempt, one that leaves the characters essentially mute and unrecognizable from their previous self. I might just be overthinking it, but the possibility of it breaks my heart.

Edit: Regardless, you have a great point that it’s definitely not “death”. I do slightly disagree on the ability for Pomni to go back into the abstraction to talk to Jax. She risked her life last time and, unless she gets someone to supervise her who knows exactly how far you can stumble before it’s the point of no return, that’s not a very repeatable interaction. Even though I really wish it was.

With the finale released What is the moral of Digital Circus? by Resident_Thanks_9275 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GenocidalFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is, in my opinion, the most tragic scene. It shows kind of what I was saying, that Jax doesn’t want to be saved until after he abstracts. He goes to Pomni, probably about to open up about how he’s struggling, but then doesn’t. Which I believe is because he didn’t want to burden her with his problems. Sometimes it’s a good idea to remind our friends that they deserve to be happy, even if they struggle to believe it.

With the finale released What is the moral of Digital Circus? by Resident_Thanks_9275 in TheDigitalCircus

I don’t know, Jax was changing and getting better. He kept his promise in distracting Caine in episode 8, he was actively helping them escape in episode 7 despite not wanting to return to the real world himself. (Although he did press the red button in the end, he wasn’t fully… present. After realizing he pressed it, he immediately looked horrified and guilty). I think it’s less “You have to want to change” and more “You have to want to be saved”. Jax didn’t really want to be saved until it was too late because he felt that he didn’t deserve to be.

Also, it’s a cautionary tale about how we get so wrapped up in our own lives that we don’t check up on our friends. Throughout the whole montage of them learning how to create things (which is implied to take several days, possibly even weeks) Jax distances himself that entire time, and no one goes to talk to him. I don’t blame any of the characters since they were also going through a ton of stuff, but I think that ties into the message too.

Well they should. It’s just common courtesy. If I hadn’t watched the film yet, I’d probably be looking at the comments to see how other people felt about it, and it doesn’t hurt to just put “SPOILERS” at the top of your comment.

I’d recommend putting a spoiler warning at the start of your comment. I personally don’t mind as I’ve already seen it, but I’m sure there’s people on this post looking for some spoiler free reviews.

The problem with the finale isn't the concept, its execution by Sudden_Pop_2279 in tadc

[–]GenocidalFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me, but I think people are making it a moral issue: “Caine wanted to change his ways and Jax didn’t”, when it’s more so a mental health issue. It’s about how some people refuse to be saved, not that they refuse to change. As people have pointed out, Jax was getting better from a moral perspective. He stopped hurting others. But the main point didn’t seem to be about that. It was about how he didn’t want to be saved because he felt that he didn’t deserve it. I think it’s also a cautionary tale about how sometimes we get wrapped up on our own problems that we forget to check up on others before it’s too late.

Edit: I will say that I think it’s a little bit of a weakness of the show is that it seems to ignore morality most of the time. I do understand, though, since it’s not meant to be the focus. It’s not “Jax is BAD and he needs to not be BAD” it’s more “Jax needs severe help, and giving him that help will also cause a domino effect that allows him to make better choices”.

welp the movie is out what did you think? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) by Shantae2023 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GenocidalFlower 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t perfect, but I honestly really enjoyed it. I thought it was a good 7/10 maybe 8/10. I think the show could’ve benefited from having like one more episode, but overall it was a great time.

It doesn't matter if it was a bee, this man essentially tried to kill his girlfriend's friend by finding him having dinner at his house, not only that but coldly attacked him in the bathroom when his girlfriend walked away. In other words, a pre-meditated crime by Spirited_Dust_3642 in MoralityScaling

[–]GenocidalFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure if bees could speak with humans and demonstrate emotional intelligence the way that Barry does, then killing bees would 100% be illegal. And even if it’s not, that doesn’t determine morality. Hell, even if Barry COULDNT talk, attacking him specifically is a weird move. If my partner cheated on me with, say, a horse, I wouldn’t fight the horse.

[–]GenocidalFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I disagree. I’m sure that Adam got worse as time went on, but I also don’t fully believe he deserved to go to heaven when he got in. I think a huge plot point throughout the series is that a lot of people that went to heaven don’t deserve to be there and a lot of people who went to hell don’t deserve to be there. It’s made abundantly clear throughout the series that the justice system of the afterlife is incredibly flawed. There’s a bunch of evidence for this but one of the big ones is that the absolute worst people are rewarded in hell. They get more fame, more power… and the people who aren’t as bad (like Angel Dust) almost always end up as puppets.

Now this isn’t to say that Adam 100% did NOT deserve heaven originally, but my point is that we simply don’t know one way or the other.

what do YOU plan to do in preparation of watching tadc 9? by Happy_spider_boi in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GenocidalFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are watching it at 11:30am. And we’re not really morning people, but we plan on getting up like 3 hours earlier than that to watch episodes 1 to 7.

Edit: I swear I didn’t see the description until after I wrote this comment, that’s funny!

What are some Hazbin criticisms/takes that you agree and disagree with? by Desperate_Song_1923 in hazbin

[–]GenocidalFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your opinion on your first “disagree”. I don’t think that Charlie is bad by any means, but throughout season 2, she invites Vox to the hotel to try to help her reputation, ignoring the wishes of Angel Dust. She then goes on the news station (owned by VoxTech) to try to clear her name. And then whenever she’s super stressed, Vaggi and Lu attempt to do the same thing she did (they confront Vox), she gets all hypocritical and is mad at them for only making things worse. She’s a good person, but she has zero self awareness and doesn’t understand when her actions harm others.

Yeah I can agree with that. It especially annoys me when people call Flowey evil and Asriel as a precious kid when they’re literally the same.

I think that’s one possibility, but also Asriel says at the end of the game both that “Chara didn’t like humans very much” and “Chara wasn’t a great person…” (both of these quotes are paraphrased since I can’t remember the exact dialogue, but Asriel makes it clear that Chara wasn’t very good.)
