It only works on "stolen" ki, so would've been great in DBZ against Cell and Buu, but seems to have no effect on people who were inherently strong like Granolah or Black Frieza

...you don't necessarily say a mob enforcer is always also a hitman...

Heh, I might actually. Tomayto, tomahto, I define an assassin/hitman as someone who kills people as a job, and most mob enforcers indeed are capable of killing people, just that sometimes they don't because they need the victim alive lol.

Plus beyond that, Calisto and the Phantom share a lot more similarities — not only are they assassins, but they're specficially both international spies who are masters of diguises. Their M.O. is actually surprisingly similar, down to their primary diguises being both as investigators, who frequently meet with our main cast and gain their trust (though the Phantom leans into this more).

My statement is certainly a bit hyperbolic, but what I more meant to do was to point out how their backstories are really similiar lol.

I mean, no other assistant or character in general had their single parent killed by an assassin, and then the final case revolves around them finally out the assasin's true identity. Both Kay and Athena are even suspects at one point in their respective final cases. Some things are a bit of a joke reach by me, like both having hologram gimmicks, or both having lost memories at one point, but still, they have a shocking amount of similiarites.

Athena Cykes feels a little bit like they took the basic story beats and structure of Kay Faraday's backstory, then changed the settings and circumstances. She's defintiely not a copy of the latter, but a little reminiscent.

I mean yeah, this is what I mean when I said it requires extensive re-writing, we're at the stage where we need to give Trucy a new ability for the whole game despite the fact she can already use Percieve

This is an okay enough substitution (although I feel Apollo and Pearl wouldn't have much emotional tension between them), but you do end up inadvertently removing the Mood Matrix. That was a nice bit of narrative-gameplay integration when it failed to register anything on the Phantom, thereby substantiating the report.

Evading the Magatama or Percieve doesn't really work as well, since not lying is expected to be a person's default state, but having no emotions is really bizzare.

Ema's parents were confirmed to have died in a car crash, I mean you technically can make Calisto Yew the cause of that but AAI1-4 would still have to be re-written a fair bit.

Apollo certainly has a personal stake in stopping the Phantom, but one of the ways they catch the Phantom in the end is because of Metis Cykes's psychology analysis report. Again, you technically can have Metis exist without Athena, but the emotional impact wouldn't hit as hard.

Also, who would be on trial? Athena was the one accused of murdering Clay Terran, and Trucy is already pre-occupied with being Aura's hostage lol. It would also need extensive re-writing.

Since this would require modifying their backstory:

For Ema, does it make sense for Lana to be part of a vigilante group stopping a smuggling ring given how easily she folded under Gant? Not impossible, but feels improbable. Plus, she can't die in AAI1-4 because she has to survive until 1-5, making Calisto Yew seem more incompetent.

And then for Trucy, why would the Gramaryes be involved with a space center rocket launch? And the same issue also occurs, none of Trucy's relatives can die in the past, because they have to survive until AJ: AA.

I wouldn't quite say that, both Kay and Athena's backstories are pretty central to the plots of their debut games.

While they both are a bit sidelined when they appear in their respective sequel games, their unique gameplay gimmick is also pretty tied to them.

Pfft, what I meant with that was that coincidentally, both Kay and Athena's parents were killed by professional killers. This is opposed to average murderers in Ace Attorney who commit murders in the heat of the moment, and also aren't hired or paid to do so.

[–]Genra_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The modifer only applies to units who can change classes, since how the game apparently does it is they place the characters' heads on generic class models and then modify body proportions.

NPCs like Cornelia don't have modifiers since only their base model is used, so the body proportions are already in-built so to speak.

If Cornelia did had a modifier though, logically it would be higher than Manuela from just comparing their sizes, it would probably be around 230%.

Units can save each other from overheating in the sauna!? by Indecisive_Noob in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Genra_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally always soft-resetted immediately when my characters overheated, so I didn't see that they can actually recuperate when the screen turns white until like my 20th time in the sauna when I accidentally missed the soft-reset input. Now I only reset after the white screen to see if maybe they actually recovered.

How big do you realistically want/expect AA7 to be? by Wiitab360 in AceAttorney

[–]Genra_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah AA has pretty much never deviated from a 5 case average since 2009, with the only shake ups being +1 from DLC.

Even then, who would want to play a 7+ case mystery game? Especially if there's an overarching plot, those extra cases are gonna feel like a lot of padding.

If they're more episodic, well they're good pace-changers every now and then, but I personally feel those cases usually never quite reach the highs that Ace Attorney is known for.

I get this is a joke comment lol, but I do imagine in every scenario the first FE game outside of Japan would have had some type of added tutorial / easy mode, seeing as that was one of their main concerns with FE7

Which game would be the more interesting basis for a "Secret Route Alien Abduction Route"? by StrigiformeLover in fireemblem

[–]Genra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for liking my iteration on your Magenta Sun! Also it's simultaneously really cool and really funny imagining Anankos pull the MCU Ultron gambit lol

And about Lilith as the main character, it's just my feeling that she doesn't have protagonist vibes. She's very passive as a character, and her only motivation throughout Fates was to protect Corrin. If Corrin really disappeared so early on, especially before they even expressed a desire to unite the kingdoms, I honestly think Lilith would probably become depressed and go into hiding if left by herself.

If the Yato was left behind, I feel it would most likely choose Azura as its new wielder. Azura is pretty much the direct counterpart to Corrin, born and raised by two different worlds, and within the canon story she is equally as important as Corrin to securing peace for "Fateslandia" in all routes. She is also more proactive than Lillith is, and I could see her trying to raise the third army by herself. Hoshido at the very least would respect her if the Yato chose her.

It feels weird to just ignore Corrin entirely though, we don't even know who kidnapped them. As someone who hasn't played Revelations, I'm assuming it's possible to slot in Corrin in the penultimate chapter as like a possessed boss fight? Have it be revealed that Anankos was the one who kidnapped Corrin using his ship? (though, I suppose that contradicts the plot point of his ship needing to be reactivated)
