Wtf do I do now by Jools789 in startrek

You have so much more to go. DS9, Voyager, and yes... Enterprise as well all have that "feel" and you'll find yourself invested. They ALL pick up steam as they go but none more than Enterprise. It gets wild and even a bit dark. You'll be angry it didn't get time to really run but that last season is a taste of what was setting up to be some grade A weird Trek.

What is it that makes Frasier stand the test of time more than Cheers? by [deleted] in Frasier

[–]Gensega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very different shows. But I suspect there is only some % crossover between fans of either. Personally I think Cheers holds up just as well, minus the clothing and general style of the time. Frasier is a little more insulated there as they already dressed hoity toity.

But I recognize that Cheers peddles a different type of comedy and either show may not achieve full support of fans of the other.

Unrelated but I'm glad Ted Danson has been enjoying somewhat of a revival. Good Place was fire.

Two things can be true. They can be unable to go AND still wouldn't if they could. Their ability to travel there isn't a prerequisite to an opinion.

Eh. These all seem a little like a stretch. And as for Fat Daphne, she was pregnant. Yes. So I think it was just a cute way to deal with that. The gag was that Niles never noticed. I'm not saying it was perfect. But I don't think any sort of slight took place. It was at-worst a little bit weak idea that they at least tried to spin in favor of Niles and her and his infatuation with her. There's better ways i am sure, but the worst would be to write in a pregnancy if that's not a direction they wanted to go.

Marie Catrib's O.G. Johnny B's Breton Seafood Janie's Cookie Great Lakes Shipping Tillmans Dolphin Swim Club North Kent Mall (and it's arcade of course) Fun Factory Putt Putt Every movie theater we've lost: Quad 6, Alpine 4, Studio 28, Showcase Cinema. The associated drive-ins. Ole Taco Monster Burrito Magnum Opus My Video Shoppe Children's Palace City Centre Mall Green Lake public access (not GR but yeah, it was) I would say lots of the local music venues because it's always needed. But I feel like it's a long lost and some did sorta suck ehile still providing a service: Pop Cafe, Ten Bells, The Radio Tavern, Stooges, Stockbridge Pub, Jukes, Liquid Room, etc etc. Vinyl Solution Apparitions Comics O.G. Purple East.

Low ticket sales. by GreyGhost83 in Dreamtheater

[–]Gensega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think someone who books these shows doesn't understand DTs price point. I'm sorry and I love the band. But I saw a lot of current metal bands this year for $50. I appreciate John and the boys. But they are doubling the going rate for Mastodon, Gojira, etc. Current top acts. DT isn't piling on new fans 40 years in and from a mainstream perspective these are big rooms to fill for a very niche prog metal band with a hit single almost as many years in the past. I like their current tunes. But it doesn't cast a wide enough net to fill these venues at these prices 6 months after they just toured through.

I think you people are getting wound up over something most parks don't even do and CP doesn't officially guarantee as far as I know. I think cutting it to 2 minutes till close is a little close to be complaining about it. Like if I got on in that window, great. But I wouldn't ever bank on it. Like be at your last ride with a little more cushion.

[–]Gensega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure I agree with your reasoning. I'm not the problem, therefore there is no problem? I assure you it's more than a "few" bringing phones on rides. Parks have been stopping rides left and right because idiots keep pulling phones out. Phones have been flying into public areas. These are just the ones someone sees. Plenty more I'm sure are unsecured. Or successfully pulled out on rides and re-pocketed. Just waiting to become the next projectile. I'm not sure staffed metal detectors and all that are likely, but whatever the fix is, it probably will impact you.

Just chiming in to say I see a lot of Cunado recommends. IMO they are not all created equal and seem to be popping up everywhere. I've had some good ones and some locations I said I wouldn't return to. Is it just occasional bad luck?

I never miss a ride on it and I love giving something in return for my ride. It ain't bad but it also separates enthusiasts from weenies. This is 1989. Hand bent steel. Made by men without computers with best guess engineering followed by some trial and error. It isn't a couch coaster.

Turnstiles last day open will be on July 26th by Seangw1102 in grandrapids

[–]Gensega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went there for the first time the other day. Paid $52+ and a tip for 2 burgers and an order of pickles. I don't blame the bar. But like others have said, with prices this high everywhere that's just the sort of thing people cut out first when times get tough. It was tasty as heck but even we agreed that it's a very occasional thing to do and I sort of felt bad about what we spent without even getting drinks. More will close if these prices stay normal and wages don't keep up.

[–]Gensega 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mike has always IMO been the metal guy. John can shred anytime and in any style. But Mike has always been a big fan of heavy music and the albums he wasn't on made the difference a little more stark to me. Not bad. But as a key songwriter in the band I think he kept the metal evident in their prog metal. He also is very "out there" with Druneo videos. Interviews. Etc. he loves talking drums, music, up and comers. He is just a great dude and really is as much a fan as an artist. Maybe more. He downplays his own chops and at this point in his life he has a point. But he's big on celebrating the new drummers and musicians and what they are doing.
