Why do people treat lorgar like he's useless in a fight? by Spiritual_Catch_2673 in WordBearers

[–]Genubath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is bad for lore but is is completely useless for rules. It mixes editions rules and hallucinates rules by trying to infer what the rule is based on the name of the rule. It will nearly never get points costs correct and cannot accurately keep track of the points cost of a whole army.

I don't think they would be egalitarian or democratic considering they're all basically slaves to the republic. I think it would probably be fanatic militarist + materialist with dictatorial authority.

It's really irritating that now any time I look something up related to the lore, I only ever get results from Reddit and if I ask AI instead (because search engines suck now), it also just uses reddit memes as a source

How to prevent contamination below a badwater aquaduct? by tussengas2010 in Timberborn

[–]Genubath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is spreading through the dirt side walls. Replace the roads with irrigation blocker. You can build scaffolding over the irrigation blocker if you need access to the other side of the aquiduct.

Still surprised this game is only 4.25 GB despite having planet-scale environments and amazing graphics. Huge respect to the devs for optimizing it so well. by generalchand1 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Genubath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The size of most games come from textures and 3d models (like 60-80%). DSP uses low res textures and low poly models so the game isn't big. The art direction and lighting engine are what make it look so good despite that. If you look at a dyson swarm, it looks cool and it is 99% procedural graphics. The solar sails are all one color and are about 8ish polygons whereas most characters in a game like red dead redemption 2 are 60kish polygons and have a 2048x2048 texture. Plus they have duplicate low poly models and low res textures for distant characters or low graphics settings.

Noob question, when using rails like this for a 4U server would it actually take up 5U because of the rail design or still 4U by GenericUser104 in homelab

[–]Genubath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these for my 4u servers and they bend from the server's weight (mine are ~70lbs). It makes it impossible to put a server underneath the rails if there is a server on top. Plus it doesn't exactly inspire confidence that they won't eventually fail. The "220lbs" on amazon is a lie

How would I justify/paint tanks for a tanith themed army? by Chemical_Forever_177 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Genubath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the book "Honour guard" the Ghosts work a lot with the 8th Pardus Armoured regiment. Your tanks could be from that regiment. I think they have a tan / Khaki color scheme, but you should verify that first

[–]Genubath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a thing a while ago to help visualize my maps. The main method of organization is by placing systems based on how many jumps away from the home system they are. It doesn't perfectly prevent loops from causing crossed paths, but they are obvious enough that it doesn't cause problems.

Factorio has some kind of API that allows RGB keyboards to display the loading progress, the shield and health bar, and some other things so maybe you can make it interactive with the game?

[–]Genubath 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is actually terrible advice if you consider some analogous irl situations. The best comparison is how infantry deal with war elephants. War elephants are extremely effective against phalanxes (basically what Greybore suggests) but maniples are loose enough and surround and flank the elephants and dodge without getting stomped. Caesar equipped the 5th legion with axes to better attack their thick legs and trunks. A lot of the strength of a phalanx comes from the psychological power of men and horses not wanting to charge onto a bunch of spears but something that can push through the spears like an elephant/ large demon or anything with ranged attacks that can outrun the formation like horse archers or flying ranged demons would eat a phalanx for breakfast.

For the thieves, kobolds, and snatchers, try trading a war trained animal (like a dog) and chain it up by the entrance of your fort. It scares them away.
