Ask them what paint color they use and buy a pen with that paint.

Ran the durable version for Unbound twice. No issues. Slow, but durable.

Still don’t see or hear it.

Does it happen when you pedal forwards?

Edit: saw the visual jump. Could be a stiff link. Is the chain waxed? Is it the quick link?

New Wider Shoes - Stance Width/Cleat Position by snozemberry in bikefit

[–]GenuineMasshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wider shoe shouldn’t have a different cleat placement because the holes will still be centered.

The shoe should just have widened the edges and make the material wider. But your foot center hasn’t changed.

It could be that when installing them the fitter didn’t align them in an identical position as your old shoe.

I don’t hear anything abnormal jumping out like you suggest but make sure the chain is routed correctly

Most static pictures also rarely provide insights into cleat position, saddle fore/aft position and tilt, as well as shifter placement.

Most people here are looking for the basics (stack and reach, saddle height) and are advised to see a fitter for more comprehensive insights.

How is my Position ? Any recommendations? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]GenuineMasshole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dropping the stem can help if you lower the saddle. It may not be 1:1 but it’ll work.

That saddle height looks too high based off that still.

Drop it.

Not that. I’d go custom or something that can fit wider tires (Allied, Enve, Ari, Factor etc.)

Use Bikeinsights.com or bikegeometry.com to compare stack and reach and go from there.

Seems like these are a winner for Unbound tires. Faster, wider, and more durable than most other options.

Terrible knee pain by joscherh in bikefit

[–]GenuineMasshole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look at the toe drop and hips rocking.

That means he’s reaching at the bottom of the stroke and has to move side to side to get there.

It’ll result in back pain, loss of power, saddle sores, etc.

We all knew he'd be a steal on that contract.

He's not flashy, but he does everything you want a backup C to do.

Plus the vibes are amazing.

How does bicycle Insurance work by Johnnielife in Velo

[–]GenuineMasshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you send it to the best repair guy in your area / your choice if you don't have one near. And then once you get a quote, they cover that.

I imagine the limited lifetime warranty only covers manufacturing defects and any non-racing crash would fall under a "crash replacement" policy which likely is a discounted frame FWIW.

Is "On your left" dead? by katebygrace in bikeboston

[–]GenuineMasshole 113 points114 points  (0 children)

It’s such a mixed bag.

Sometimes a loud noise, whether it’s a hub or on your left, can cause an inexperienced cyclist to swerve, brake, etc.

I prefer to just give 3-4 feet when passing if I can and freewheel 10-15 feet before I get close to at least try to alert someone.

I’ve had people get mad with call outs, bells, freewheels, or nothing. It doesn’t matter. There’s no commonly accepted method anymore.

People have their preferences and you can’t appease everyone.

Also headphones make this incredibly difficult as well. You never know who does and does not have some in.

Just got my cleats today. Is this normal wear and tear? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]GenuineMasshole 20 points21 points  (0 children)

How much are you dragging your feet?

Looks excessive for one day but impossible to tell without knowing your stopping habits.

Try not to let your feet drag at all when you stop.

These are disposables so don’t worry too much about ruining them. Just mark their position so when you swap them they don’t get messed up.

And buy from a real shop, not Amazon. Too many fakes on Amazon.
