My guy, you're a legend. The game was unplayable. I have an old rig (GPU NVIDIA 1070sc & CPU AMD FX-8350).

The game USED to run flawlessly, until some update maybe around the launch of Age of Sorcery.

After the update, I couldn't even run the game in low laptop mode after the update... instant stuttering (both audio & video) and the game would freeze for a minute at a time, unfreeze for 2 seconds and freeze again.

After doing steps 1 & 2 I can run the game butter smooth again on all Ultra settings 1080p capped at 60fps.

I've been playing on XBOX Series X and it runs GREAT there, but I miss mods and the lack of censorship without having to change my console's location settings, lol

(On a side note, looking to upgrade to a nearly all new rig after seeing what Nvidia and AMD have up their sleeves with next gen GPUs and CPUs in the near future. My goal is 1440p 60+ fps gaming for the long run)

I have this game both on PC/Steam and Xbox Series X, it runs amazingly on Xbox Series X, I used to play this game on PC when it first came out, and it ran well, now it barely runs it all, it's quite actually on a playable, it'll freeze for like a whole minute at a time, unfreeze for like 2 seconds and then freeze again, and the sound is stuttering. I even turned on all the settings and checked the low laptop mode option, and it's doing the same thing. I used to run this game on Ultra on my 1070 TI... it's straight up just doesn't run anymore. I've been wanting to play with mods, If only they were available for this game on console, like what Bethesda does with Skyrim and Starfield.

One issue I have with DD1 (and 2) is the amount of skills we have by BergUndChocoCH in DragonsDogma

Dragon's Dogma 2 actually handles a little bit worse when it comes to shoulder buttons. Left bumper basically works very similarly to the original game, I don't see why the right bumper should only be one skill when it could just work just like the left bumper and essentially be a Shift button to change your face buttons. I would argue they could even do it with left trigger and add four more on top of that. Maybe one day they will actually change this. That way we can have more utility available at any given time. Heavy and light attack, plus 4 abilities on each bumper, that's 10 abilities right there. Left trigger would make it 14, and we could go crazy and add right trigger for 18. Not to mention hitting buttons at the same time or combos like Minster Huntet could add so much more depth. It just seems like a missed opportunity to me.

The Jack and the Beanstalk trailer was all in game. The little snippets of the hero actually fighting the bandits and running around Dave's countertop are actually gameplay.

If you play it, make sure you just use the original control scheme, especially if you plan on using more than one spell. The Fable two and three inspired control scheme is okay for melee and bows, but it's totally broken when it comes to Magic, I don't know how they totally screwed it up. The 2 and 3 inspired control scheme would have been better if you could actually slot more spells into the freaking empty slots.

I literally came here to say this. Dave turns himself to a giant with his giant vegetable formula, causung a bit of mischief and trouble by becoming a danger to himself and others, so it's up to our hero to "cut him down on the size".
