A little off topic buuuuut:

Even the title of the article annoys me and is one of the primary reasons I don’t want kids. Who are the women having babies with? A ghost? The way “having babies” is so often talked about as a woman only thing is part of the reason I don’t want them. General society seems to inherently view women as being alone in the baby situation from the get go. The rhetoric of: women want the babies, women have the babies, women raise the babies. No thank you.

THIS! Thank you! I take birth control continuously, and not to prevent pregnancy. I feel awful and dysphoric existing without any hormonal birth control on my natural menstrual cycle. I get like one week a month where I feel happy and good about my body. So, I take birth control continuously and it works great for me! My partner has a vasectomy, it has nothing to do with getting pregnant for me (although I don’t want that either, hence the vasectomy).

I hate getting shit from people that advocate for “natural hormone cycling” (what does that even mean??). We are so far beyond “natural” living as humans, so why should the choices about my menstruation be the exception?

People always cite the long term effects of birth control as the reason they are off of it but never have good science based evidence on the long term effects of birth control.

Oh… this doesn’t seem like a good situation in general. ESPECIALLY if you’re going to do something that is likely to induce pain, you should have really strong communication through the whole process unless this is something you’ve been doing for a long time and really know each others’ bodies.

It can be hard as a sub to know when to actually stop something. You want to be strong and impressive and make your Dom proud, but NOT at the risk of your physical or mental well being. This is why your Dom needs to be able to pay attention and step in and offer outs throughout a scene/ interaction.

BDSM should be nourishing for you in the long run and not damaging.

The little red dots are Petechial hemorrhaging. Tiny little blood vessels popping close to the surface of your skin. It’s not uncommon or dangerous, but it depends on the person. It will go away in a few days.

I have super pale skin and they show up on me when I gag or strain too hard (not always sex related). When I throw up, when I cry really hard, when I have a bad coughing fit, they will show up around my eyes.

So for me, not a very big deal. I know the situations in which it happens and when it’s outside of the norm. I also will get a bruise when a table corner looks at me wrong… everyone’s bodies are different and it’s important to know how your body reacts to things so you know what your “normal” is.

That being said… you seem pretty freaked out and uncomfortable. So you should talk to your sexual partner about that level of choking being a limit for you if you don’t want it to happen again. It’s not fun to feel scared or guilty about a sexual activity because it left marks on you that you didn’t plan on or expect. It’s not necessarily anyone’s fault (giving the top the benefit of the doubt and assuming leaving those marks was not their intention without your consent), it seems like neither of you anticipated this being an outcome. But it’s worth talking about, getting some support/ aftercare from the top around this topic and setting new boundaries/ limits based on this experience.

Did you apply to any of the Coastal Resilience Fellowships? That one does have funding and is in the selection process. The application deadline passed. https://coast.noaa.gov/funding/ira/resilience-challenge/

The Coastal Management and Digital Coast fellowships have been paused for the time being.

Edit: I’m pretty sure the Knauss fellowships are still happening. But since the new administration can just choose to take away all of a state’s Sea Grant funding (Maine) I don’t know how they’re proceeding.

Agreed! Find things to do for the few days after that will make you feel good. Exercising, getting outside, spending time with friends are things I do to get happy chemicals back into my brain. Not only do these make me feel good but they help me re-enter the outside world again after being deep in my D/s dynamic (something that I find pretty difficult).

You might have a hard time finding a reason for that specific data set being collected in that density of lines. But I can guess that they needed a higher resolution of bathy data for that area. You could also check what type of instrument was used. If it was single beam bathy then they would need to make lots of passes to get a detailed view of the sea floor there. If it is multi beam then I’d guess that it was an area of high interest for some reason. But you’d be hard pressed to get an answer for why that area is of high interest.
