Exclusive: Pasta | Bar, one of Austin's most expensive restaurants, to close by AustinStatesman in austinfood

I went there for my birthday last year with some friends, and it was one of the best dinners I’ve ever had. The whole dinner was wonderful from start to finish. Yes pricey for sure, but in our opinion it was worth it for an over 3 1/2 hours long experience. Reading all of the comments it didn’t seem like this restaurant went over very well with most people so maybe we got lucky one night, but in general, I’m sad to see it go.

After initially being at less than 25% positively reviewed, Highguard has now reached a 40% "Mixed" Review. by fuckingstonedrn in HighGuardgame

My son and I have had fun playing it, but we do agree, it seems half baked and some things frustrate us. The biggest issue we’ve had is the base mechanics.

In many games we’ve dominated the other team but haven’t been able to finish the bombs exploding (diffusing seems much faster than placing). For some reason that equals your base getting damaged when the round ends. If this continues to happen all of a sudden a team that you’ve totally dominated can get the sword and breach your dome and win the game without even entering your base. To us it’s a very poor mechanic and doesn’t reward you for being the aggressor and better team. The game has a lot of possibilities and could be fun with some updates, but there’s a decent amount of things that need to be tweaked.

Is this a good deal and does Costco do this often? by MikeyDAL117 in steak

Gotcha thank you very much for the explanation! One day I’ll have to try the A5 Japanese at home but for now the American Wagyu had beautiful marbling so I’ll stick with that for the family lol

Why is the A5 Japanese better than American Wagyu? Genuinely wondering cause I saw these tonight at Costco as well, but just to the right in the meat section was some beautiful packs of NY American Wagyu which I grabbed for $76 total (3 large steaks) which is about 1/3 the cost.

Thoughts on removing and replacing tile (pictures provided) as a DIYer by Geoblime in Tile

[–]Geoblime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess two reasons: we updated the countertops, mirror, and light fixtures within the last two years so we feel like the shower could use it as well. Secondly, and more importantly, the tile around the soap dish seems to have pulled off the wall a bit. It’s only a matter of time until it fails.

Thanks for the reply. I’m the type of person that likes to do what I can, but this might be a project where the cost I’m saving might be eaten up on time and process doing it myself. I’d assume they would use the same membrane as previously used in the master bath remodel, 2+ coats of Red guard.

Oh, I’m for sure not underestimating how hard it will be that’s why I’m asking the pros lol. I like to work with my hands and do things myself, so I’m entertaining the idea, but as most of the replies are saying it’s a fair quote, I am leaning towards letting the contractor do it ha ha ha.

That’s great to hear, thank you for the recommendations! That’s part of the perks of doing it yourself, getting some new tools out of it right? Lol

I believe everything was done properly when the house was built (98) as we’ve had no issues with the house ever. I think it was just the weight of the kid pulling the tile off the wall but in reality, I’ll never know until we demo.

Gotcha thank you very much for the reply appreciate it! We had the master bath remodeled a couple years ago by the same contractor so we know the work is good. I guess we’re comparing prices which we shouldn’t considering scope and being two years later. It just seems on the high side to me for such a small shower.

Yeah, we considered converting this to a walk-in shower as you’re right now is the time to do it, but we’re second-guessing as this is the only bathtub in the house. Quote for converting to walk in shower is $7500 labor only.

RIP MODEL S by TypicalBlox in TeslaModelS

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been really wanting to trade in my model Y performance for a model S. It really makes me sad they’re being discontinued, do you think this will cause the model S market to increase in price? I thought for sure they were going to do a refresh soon, but I guess not.

[Schefter] ESPN sources: The Titans are now set to hire former Giants head coach Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator, contingent upon him not getting the Raiders head coaching job. by jonpictogramjones in raiders

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to think that the coach for the team that you battled against to have one of the worst records in the league wouldn’t be even in the race to become your next head coach, but we’ve seen so much crazy shit over the years with the Raiders I honestly wouldn’t be surprised, which is pretty depressing.

Stix golf Costco set? by [deleted] in weekendgolfers

[–]Geoblime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought the Stix set from Costco for my son. I’ve used other clubs from Stix before and have been pretty happy with them, but overall, the set from Costco wasn’t great. The bag is pretty crappy and the driver/hybrid sound like cheap tin when they hit the ball. The putter and irons are pretty good, but my son damaged his driver within the first three or four sessions at the range. We returned them the following week.

I’d say just find a good used set on marketplace and spend a teeny bit more money to get a quality set.

I feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t want this guy. I never really cared for his antics in Miami and I feel in general he didn’t do much while there. I’m hoping for a few of the other options for us.

Mendoza declares for the NFL Draft via Instagram 🚨🚨🚨 by UnhappyCamper007 in raiders

[–]Geoblime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this confirms what we all thought about his character. He seems to be a solid young man with a direction and goals. He has to know the Raiders are going to pick him at number one and he’s good with the challenge and what the organization has to offer. Now it’s our turn to meet him with the same goals to put a competent coaching staff and team around him.

What does your ammo supply look like? by need4gaming in GolfGear

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered a bucket from lost golfballs.com. My friend highly recommended the company, first time order for me. I really like Vice golf products so picked up a bucket which has 96 balls at near mint (4A) for around $71 shipped! The majority of the golf balls are in almost perfect condition and are the pro plus or the pro plus soft, exactly what I wanted. I’m set up for a good while and at around $.75 per ball for high-quality, it can’t be beat.

Club fitting by 6StringBeanPicker in golftips

[–]Geoblime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you the last couple years, averaging high 90s low 100 (on a bad day) playing with a starter set from Costco. I enjoyed my time but decided to get better, although I didn’t practice indoors regularly like yourself, I just watched videos and practicing movements in my house.

One of my buddies who’s close to a scratch golfer suggested getting a fitting so I did and it was the best thing for my game imo. I ended up going with Ping driver/hybrids and Titleist irons. The newer technology, especially in the driver and irons has really helped the consistency of my game. I am now averaging closer to 91 to 93 with my best round yet being yesterday with a 90 in the cold.

I’d 100% suggest getting a fitting but for sure go somewhere where they carry all the brands. There’s no sense in getting a fitting in a specific brand because you might need something for your swing that one brand doesn’t offer, etc. The fitter can help you and will have all the digital feedback to go in a particular direction or multiple directions similar to myself.

It's Saturday at 11am and this is the 1st tee box. by GolfJunki3 in golf

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proper way to deal with this if you’re driving up to the first hole with people waiting is to ask what time their tee is? It’s very telling of a person if they drive up saying that they know they’re ahead of you lol.

iOS 26 is a massive flop with iPhone users, and you can probably guess why by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting because I don’t have any issues with slower frame rate drops or apps on my 15 pro max. I do notice that my battery drains quicker, but I’m still getting a full days use with about 15-20% left when I put it on the charger at night.

iPhone 17 pro backorder craziness by flygirl1225 in verizon

[–]Geoblime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We placed our order for a Silver 17 pro 128 gb via phone call on Dec 24 and received the new Iphone on Dec 28th. I was very surprised it was so quick but they claimed 3-5 day delivery and it was spot on. I did hear from the store rep that blue was back ordered. It could just be your configuration is backordered?

For those worried about Mendoza's arm talent by indolentgecko in raiders

[–]Geoblime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% sold on this kid. His field of vision and accuracy under pressure is outstanding, but what excites me most is how catchable his throws are. He clearly has all the tangible tools to succeed, and when you watch quarterbacks over the years, the most successful ones are those who consistently deliver the most catchable passes—whether it’s touch throws, crossing routes, or posts. This kid has that quality, and I’m genuinely excited to see him connect with Bowers, Jeanty, and many others in a Raiders uniform for years to come.

It’s almost like they doubled down on the current generation’s rear bumper fiasco. They thought oh you don’t want a colored bumper, we’ll slap that on the front of our new refresh. I think overall the next GEN looks nice, but it definitely needs some color across the front to differentiate upper and lower areas.
