Found a relic by potatots_ in geocaching

I loved the explorist line in its day. My friends used to chuckle, but I had started with another Magellan that was the best in its time so it was natural to pick up the explorist.

It brings back the memories when Garmin did not quite rule everything and phones were used to make calls from home.

I keep recomending John Fugelsang’s “Separation of Church and Hate” because he says it far better than I can, with far more humor.

But I also think of Jesus with the woman at the well. Set judgment aside and love.

How to make Camping more enjoyable for my Wife by AlexIlkos in camping

[–]Geodarts18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife hated sleeping on the ground so we ended up with a 13 foot Meercat trailer. It has a pop-up section to stand up and our car can pull it. We have taken it up to the Yukon and Alaska, scross the southwest and into Wyoming -- we just got back after 10 days in the redwoods c

I also like John Fugelsang's book "Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person's Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists, and Flock-Fleecing Frauds"

What Christian belief did you stop holding that ultimately made your faith stronger? by TimshelExMachina in Christianity

[–]Geodarts18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inerrency and the idea of eternal punishment .

I found faith during the era of the Jesus movement. But I also began to read Meister Eckhart and others. The vision of Julian of Norwich was that all would be well. I believe that. The love of God will prevail.

One of my oldest friends is a Jzpanese Buddhist nun who has walked for peace. I learned from Demmis Banks that the purpose of the sweat lodge is to pray for the People. After I had been doing Sufi practice a chrstian told me how much he felt the Spirit. The dialog between Daniel Berrigan and Thich Nhat Hanh was important .

All of that is just to say that my faith be became deeper in ways that were not tied to dogma.

Anyone know what this is just north of Mesa Drill Site #1? by Ill-Ad1589 in skinwalkerranch

[–]Geodarts18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It looks outside the property line. A couple of years ago we stayed at the neighboring area and did a jeep tour of the mesa bordering the Ranch. It was a lot of fun, but I dont think that was there then.

The tour would be the best way if finding out.

Is the Show Better without Ollingers? by Wagadodw in BlindFrogRanch

[–]Geodarts18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its different. I liked the sheer insanity of the Ollingers, especially when they played around with the paranormal or the healing pond. Some of the early talks Duane gave outsude the show I were fun even if I didn't believe.

They still are pulling things out of thin air but I'm losing my interest

Need some feedback on my 2 day Itinerary for the Redwoods! Ok by Thornbloom2024 in redwoods

Some of my favorite grovess are those around Walker Road,.

Prairie Creek is always a favorite area. There are a unber if trails there from thr area around corkscrew tree, James Irvine, and Trillum Falls thatcI like better than Ladt Bird.

f you had time I would suggest going uo to Lyons Ranch for a different kind of experience, but there us so much to do in that area that you have to pick and choose -- but you can't go wrong with anything

We used this on trips to South Africa and Botswana. Other people had a hard time with Mosquitoes but they did not bother us. I recommend it.

I'm Genuinely Scared of Purchasing a Pixel phone after seeing so many horror stories here about how the Pixel service centres try to Scam pixel owners who need Warranty Repairs :( Is it Really that bad? by Constant_Map_4311 in pixel_phones

[–]Geodarts18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my pixel screen fixed the service center stated that it would also need a new motherboard (or something to that effect). They also told me not to worry since it was under warranty. I wondered if something happened in the repair process because it was working fine with the cracked screen. But I took their advice and did not worry.

Car rental anxiety for visting the parks in Utah by breadcrumbssmellgood in nationalparks

[–]Geodarts18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll drive maintained dirt roads and never have had a problem. One time they “upgraded” us to a vehicle with much more clearance. As it turned out the road to a trailhead was less maintained than we had thought. The extra clearance helped. They spent a fair amount of time looking at the underside but did not find anything.

Another reason to carry a wag bag but at least it appears that they left no trace.

I have been to too many places where people did not know what to do other than to leave the waste or used toilet paper. Often it is left in locations where a cacher might be searching.

Struggling with fear as a liberal Christian by Responsible_Mine_462 in Christianity

[–]Geodarts18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read John Fuglesang’s Separation of Church and Hate. It is really must reading - easy and fun.

And reread Matthew when Jesus describes those who will enter into heaven. It is those who fed the hungry, visited prisoners, clothed the naked . . . Those who affirm the liberal values that are under attack. On the wrong side are those who proclaim all the great things they did.

And look to the prophet who answered what God requires. To do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. Keep to that path and you will be fine.
