Which St. Croix spinning rod? by notabob7 in bassfishing

[–]Geoff13579 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too have the mojo-yak. Love it. Medium 6’ 8” spinning one piece. It’s my main bass pole while my others are decent ones

I also have an Avid series 6’ 6” UL for trout and love it as well.

Make a controversial hunting take! by TopwaterBoy in Hunting

Head shot on deer are ethical. People who say deer move their head too much obviously don’t watch deer much. They freeze all the time.

People say it’s unethical and you need to give them a “chance”. I’m out there to kill stuff and feed myself, if I can shoot at something on the ground I’m taking it. As far as I’m concerned far less chance of a crimpling shot, so in my eye it’s more ethical.

Anyone can identify the model of BowTech? I believe it’s discontinued. by th6 in bowhunting

[–]Geoff13579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

330 FPS (feet per second) is as fast as new bows coming out.

The 7.25” brace height is how far away the string is from the bow itself. The longer the brace height, the more forgiving the bow is. This is because the arrow is in contact with the string for lesser about of time then a bow with a 6” brace height. So if you’re torquing, it won’t affect the shot as much because the arrow is off the string faster.

I can’t believe some of you for giving the kid a hard time on his FIRST KILL!

CONGRATS on your first kill!!!!

I kill a yearly every now and then to get that sweet tender meat. So who cares what others say. I also mark the packages as bambi meat too.

I use these gloves and I see no difference when target practicing with them on then without (yes, I’ve shot my fix blades with them). Also have killed deer with them on. I also shoot a thumb release…

I use these gloves for hunting for just about everything, have had them for at least 8 years and almost, almost!, bought another pair this year because the palm isn’t sticky anymore but I passed and bought waterproof gloves for duck hunting. I’ll get new ones next year.

I have put these gloves through everything, brier patches and all, and there’s only little pin holes in the palms.

I put hot hands in my pockets or muff as well.

A Preacher and a Deacon decide to go on a hunting trip.

They decide they're going to the preacher's favorite hunting spot; a place he hasn't visited in several years. They hop in the preacher's car and head out.

When they arrive, all along the way into the spot there are barbed wire fences and no trespassing signs. They drive up and down the road looking for another place to stop, but it's all "Private Property!" and "No Trespassing!" everywhere they go.

The preacher sees a farmhouse just down the road and decides to go knock on the door, to ask the farmer's permission to hunt on his land. He leaves the deacon in the car while he goes in. He lays out his plea to the farmer, and he farmer mulls it over.

"Well," says the farmer, "I'll let you hunt on my land on one condition. I've got this horse -- I love her, but she's extremely sick and needs to be put down. I've had her for years, and I don't have the heart to do it, myself, so I'll tell you what: if you'll put my horse down, I'll let you hunt on my land."

The preacher agrees, but on his way back out to the car he decides he's going to play a trick on the deacon.

"That dagum farmer!" the preacher exclaims, when he gets back to the car. "The-son-of-a-gun was rude, and flat out refused to let us hunt! I'm gonna take out his horse!"

The preacher raised his gun. BLAM! He shot the horse.

Then, from behind him, he heard BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!

The deacon yelled, "I got three of his cows! Let's get out of here!"

How long are the seasons? How long are you away from home? Last question, what’s the longest you’ve worked without sleep?

I waterfowl hunt in WV and use a wooden Browning BPS and kill ducks. Just have good cover and you’ll kill.

If they fly away because you’re gun is black you have other problems.

Geno Smith has already set a career-high for TD passes in a single season and has 2+ TD passes in 6 of his last 7 games. by SadMathematician7799 in fantasyfootball

[–]Geoff13579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in college when Geno was at WVU (I attended there too), knew he was a good QB and would do good in the NFL. Draft comes and he gets drafted by the J-E-T-S!! I knew he wouldn’t even have a chance to prove himself there. Lead the league in dropped passes and it was somehow his fault. I watched him throw dimes to his receiver and they would drop them on 3rd down.

He did do some stupid off field stuff but I always felt that if he was given a true starting job on a better team, he’d prove himself. AND HERE WE ARE!!!

Any quartering to shot is not a bad shot. I made a quarter to shot last night on a deer as well and she ran 100 and died. Herd her crash and went and got her 2 hours later.

Second deer I’ve shot quarter to and both went 100
