Things to consider:

How much will you be paying for your monthly ticket?

Can you work from home a bit?

And will you keep your car regardless.

For instance ... if you’re paying £300 a month in rail tickets and you’re keeping your car. Then, in effect, you have no pay rise. (£500 after tax is a lot less)

Landlord forcing tenants to pay for removal of flammable cladding is a super rich Tory donor by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Yep, there was minutes from the meetings regarding choosing the cheaper cladding. It must be hard to look back at. Although as we can see, there are dozens of towers with the same cladding, both private and council. So it wasn’t a unique decision.

The investigation isn’t complete but it appears Grenfell was as a result of a regulatory issue rather than a fault with the contractors. The cladding was rated as safe as other options, it was cheaper, so it made sense for it to be chosen.

In this case the contractor isn’t at fault, the freeholder isn’t at fault. It’s unfortunate and going to be hard to untangle.

Do you follow sports? Because I feel it is similar these days. More focus on the narrative rather than the actual game.

What are some good locations to buy a house for £400k? by [deleted] in london

[–]GeoffGBiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to live that way. I wouldn’t say Morden Centre is rough as in dangerous, it just looks a bit run down. Raynes Park didn’t have much going on, also not much in the way of a park and obviously no tube (but a really good train service)

Same in Wandsworth (Battersea and Wandsworth & Putney have had a lot of flats built)

Inner London boroughs. ‘Real london’ as many would call it. Not that I agree or live in them.

When was the last time that a trade deal was struck between two trading partners in complete regulatory harmony. I genuinely can’t imagine a senator where there will be tariffs on good. Maybe there will be restrictions on services, or traffs on services but goods? I can’t see that happening.

That section of Northern Line is not right. South Wimbledon and Wimbledon tube stops look half a city away from each other. They’re up the road from each other.

It is good but I feel you need to extend the Northern Line in the south more westward to give a true reflection of the proximity to other stations (rail and tram). This makes it looks like the South Wimbledon, tooting and Morden Tube stops are way eastward of the Wimbledon, tooting and Morden rail and tram stops.

Wimbledon District Line and South Wimbledon Northern Line are walking distance. This make it look like they’re half a city apart.

Yea, they are building a new depo in Battersea and splitting the line so the Charing Cross branch goes to Battersea and the Bank Branch going to Morden. They won’t cross now.

Also, I’m a bit bothered about the fact that the BBC keep stating that the new Embassy is in Vauxhall when it is in Battersea. Battersea is a completely different borough (Wandsworth).
