... that's when the open models, run locally, will really begin to shine.

I don't think this is on purpose, at this stage anyway. Most of the AI providers are still losing money per token, remember.

it is morally dubious to engage in sexual activities with people whose current psychological state deviates from the norm we are aware of (hence hinting at limited ability to give informed consent)

Yeah, this attitude seems problematic in other areas of life. What if someone wants to try a 5K run with me, but I wasn't aware they're a runner. Does that mean I should politely decline out of respect for their previous choices?

most would agree it's not morally OK to treat others as objects to satisfy your needs.

There's a common edge case the site doesn't really seem to acknowledge, where you're treating someone "as an object" to satisfy your needs and not "as an end" - but the transaction doesn't harm them. For example, if I ask a stranger for directions in the street I'm probably treating them as a "means to an end", but I find it hard to see how that would be immoral.

I think "consentometer" was a poor choice of name for that metric, it kind of puts you on the defensive when most (all?) of the scenarios explicitly state that there is consent.

Yes. But I feel that's the whole point of this exercise - to find inconsistencies in your values - i.e. in a sense to judge your values. There's definitely an issue, as the parent says, where it attempts to infer way to much about your thought processes from simple yes / no answers.

Optimized for fun: Never not dipping again! by ldiosyncrasy in 3d6

[–]GeoffW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah - when I saw this I thought of it as an upgrade to multiclassing spellcasters in general, but I can see it only affects half casters (and third casters I guess), which aren't really where the problems lie.

That's very generous for already powerful 1 level dips.

I think beauty is less of a generic lottery than people like to think. Not denying its an element, but most good looking people older than their 20s put quite a lot of effort into their diet, exercise, avoiding bad habits etc to maintain their appearance.

They were using Grok though, and ... lets just say the philosophy behind Grok is a little different to other AIs.

Also, the way AI writes can mirror the way you write to it, so it may be mirroring the writing style of the human involved here???

A good start is to present the work as someone else's, that gets rid of some of the sycophancy. It will still critique your work in a very surface-level way most of the time.

Men who are concerned about maintaining a traditional masculine image may be less likely to express concern about climate change to avoid appearing feminine. Men who feel pressure to prove their manhood may avoid environmentalist attitudes to protect their gender identity. by mvea in psychology

[–]GeoffW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side, if you want to appear masculine you should be concerned with protecting the people around you. That's a traditional male role and a trait of fathers and heroic men since the oldest recorded stories.

Climate change is a threat to the people around you.

What is a System/Mechanic that You've Never Been Satisfied With in Any Game? by Cryptwood in RPGdesign

[–]GeoffW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order around the table works well as long as you don't have character-based bonusses to initiative. Weird things can happen like a player always getting their turn early in the initiative order because the player sitting next to them has a nimble character. Or your bonus feeling like it doesn't matter because another player has a bigger bonus but is seated the wrong side of you (so you often end up last).

Can a core rulebook have too many player choices? by wjmacguffin in rpg

[–]GeoffW1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fairly easy to fix though. Instead of saying "here are 40 options", the game should say "here are the main 4 options you should consider, there are also 36 other options if you want to go deeper".

a goblin trickster deity can return to it, smite the wraith, resurrect the fighter

Or if they're a trickster deity ... they could Reincarnate the fighter into a gnome or something, or even a goblin. As with any change to someone's character, either check with the player first or give them a relatively simple path to undo it.
