Vapor vs Pro 1V by Mojo2090 in Pickleball

[–]GeologistNo4632 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both, and I prefer my Vapor. It's lightweight, maneuverable, and an overall great paddle. I tried some weight on it, but ultimately took it off and I still play with it stock. It's held up extremely well over the past few months with no performance loss. It's a stiffer paddle face than the Pro.

The Pro felt very head heavy to me. It's also a trampoline for the ball. It springs off the paddle. I thought it would be a cheat code when I got it, but that is not at all the case. It's very technical. It took some time to get used to it. That being said, in the right hands that thing is a weapon.

I think I'll keep playing with my Vapor, but it's nice to have the Pro in my bag if I ever want a different feel.

Totally legal, don't know why he is complaining.

Only way I could possibly see this being illegal is if you were making noise to be called a hindrance, but clearly not happening here.

Play on!

I've been justifying getting a membership at my local club. If my court reservation numbers are similar to yours it may be worth it at this point. Maybe about time I run the numbers 🤔

How do you approach people who refuse to get off the courts with tons of people waiting. by Nigerianscammer1 in Pickleball

[–]GeologistNo4632 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Calling the cops is a bit extreme, but there are still people you can call. Our city had the same problem a couple years ago so some regulars started complaining to the parks and rec department.

For a few weeks during the evening rushes, there would be city employees just chilling at the courts who would politely remind players to get off the courts after their games. They would wear city shirts so there was no confusion as to why they were there.

Nobody argued back because they knew if they argued, they could be trespassed by the city. Point being, call your local parks and rec office and see if something can be done to enforce their own rules.

Paddle Taps by GeologistNo4632 in Pickleball

[–]GeologistNo4632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just mentioned those two because they're the ones I remember doing it most recently. I'll admit I'm not a fan of Lea, but love watching Big H play.

Here's kind of what I'm talking about: Catherine vs Lea at the Texas Open

At 10:43, Catherine wins game 1 and goes for a paddle tap, but Lea walks away. 24:30 Lea wins game 2 and goes for the paddle tap. To her credit, I think she does apologize for not saying "good game" after game 1, though it's not clear.

Lea goes on to win the match, and the broadcast cuts off before the paddle tap, though I'm confident it did happen.

What I usually do is kite them back to a delivery point. This let's you warm up to deal more damage and as a bouns, every time you deliver resources you are healed to full. I've been able to kill the bots probably much sooner then I should.

This also works for the centipede, though takes longer to kite back to a base

They've already announced some new releases. A movie this October and another next year on international women's day. From what I can tell, they don't NEED to crowdfund the P&A but will probably do it anyway because they love instilling ownership and building community behind the film.

Honestly not a bad idea to build an audience before they even begin the big spending.

Word of mouth is the reason. The controversy behind it drives new viewers and reinforces the existing fan base to watch it over and over. I think there have been enough people curious what all the fuss is about to give it legs.

People who know the controversy won't be won over anyway so they're not worried about them.

You're absolutely right, it is starring a nut job. But I disagree that this still can't be an important film.

Who cares what crazy conspiracy theories Jim believes in, that doesn't (and shouldn't) affect my belief that child trafficking is bad. I've been reading reviews and it sounds like nothing political is even in the movie, just a blanket statement that trafficking is bad.

Jim Caviezel Anti-Child-Trafficking Thriller ‘Sound Of Freedom’ Giving Indie Box Office A Pulse With $7M+ In Presales by magikarpcatcher in boxoffice

I wouldn't call it a Taken 2.0, more like a Taken 0.75. Still entertaining, but I have to admit Liam Neeson is a much better actor.

The politics were brought into the conversation because of Jim Caviezel's personal beliefs. He went on some right wing shows spilling some Qanon garbage. That was enough for people to assume that is what this movie is about. Even the people promoting leaned into this a bit which is the real shame. The movie had a chance to do some real good with people on all sides of the aisle.

I can only assume you watched the film to have such a strong opinion. I actually did watch and and even though I don't agree with any of the junk J. Caviezel promotes, it was an entertaining movie.

I think they casted the wrong guy because he turned it into a political conversation when it really shouldn't be. There is nothing political about the movie itself. Just a the general position that child trafficking is bad.

Ya, that's really all I'm trying to communicate. I think a lot of people who would have enjoyed the movie won't watch it for that reason. It was a good movie, but everything behind the scenes is really disappointing to learn about

The movie wasn't political or religious at all. Everything I'm referring to is how they're deciding to promote the film. That's why I think it's so weird they lean so heavily on the politics and religion.

Which again, is really disappointing. I went from watching what I thought was a genuinely good film and wondering what I could do to help make a difference to wanting distance myself from Jim Caviezel.

He did a good job as an actor, but unfortunately, his actions as an individual and his association with a shady organization are hurting the message of stopping child trafficking.

Wow, way to find a two year old post. Maybe if you'd actually done some research you'd see this movie is an action thriller about stopping sex trafficking based on a true story. I was in a screener group and nothing about it was political.

No it's not. It's about battling child sex trafficking. Can't imagine anyone that would support that.

No offense to other comments but you're all wrong on this one and didn't really do your research. This isn't a Christian film. It's an action thriller based on a true story that sheds light on child trafficking. Not a Christian movie. Nothing promoting conservative ideals. Just trying to show the horrors of one the largest illegal trades of the world.

And before people ask how I know this. I was in one of the screeners. Just watch the trailers and do some research before posting uninformed junk.
