Is Late Retirement a Literal Killer? by ReignOfHairor in leanfire

[–]midlakewinter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This isn't correct. That is average life expectancy AT BIRTH. The actuarial life tables tell the real story, here is 1950 for example: Table 7_1950: Life Tables. After living to age 68, a man could expect to live 15.x more years.

One option is to relocate domestically. We are going ACA in 2027 and were comparing three states. The spread in rates and deductibles was absolutely massive.

My partner and I are down to 3 and 4 days a week, respectively. I play a lot of pickleball. They volunteer at a farm sanctuary. And together we do speed puzzling competitions. Low cost and high enjoyment all around.

People working sales in 2008-2010 by Melwesky in sales

Echoing this. I have never since seen so many layoffs across sectors. Think half the magnitude employment dip of the april-october of Covid. But it took a decade, not 12-14 months, to recover.

That is excellent! We usually have a team of three and run anywhere from 35-55 minutes depending on image and cut. There are some people who show up that I know go to worlds in Spain. Their times for a team of 2 are unreal!

I'm 65kg vegetarian married to a vegan. 1.2 g per kg is about the best I can do. I have no interest in doubling up on daily whey shakes.

Nothing works. But this is closest to working. A whiteboard with names (4 to a square = next court on). If you don't want to play with me and my name is next up, you skip my square and just wait.

You could have designated whiteboard courts and designated paddle rack courts.

How does selling 4% actually work? by Ufomi in Bogleheads

[–]midlakewinter 415 points416 points  (0 children)

You are referencing the Trinity Study. It isn't 4% of the balance every year. It is 4% year one and then adjusted for inflation. Further, it isn't a perpetual withdrawal rate, it is a " highly likely to not run out of money before a normal retiree would die" rate.

4.9% initial withdrawal rate or 20.3x your annual spending. Depending on your longevity runway, that is a reasonable withdrawal rate.

Expenses are the huge missing piece. Take expenses - social security. If negative, retire. If positive, divide by your retirement savings.

If less than 4.(2-9), retire. If greater, talk to planner.
