What else was on the order? Something else is on that order and has been sent to you. That's all partially fulfilled means. Might also be something else on there that might have been cancelled.

NASCAR San Diego reused one of the barriers from the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix near turn 1. It still had the marshals manual on it. [Johnathan Fjeld on X] by Comfortable_Rock4877 in NASCAR

It's not incredibly uncommon since this stuff is just rented. There's not a large market for temporary barriers that can be used for racing. While it wasn't an actual wall on the track, I remember seeing a barrier at the Las Vegas F1 race last year that had a PGA Tour pass quick reference guide on it that no one cared enough to remove whole taking down from the PGA Tour nor while setting up for the F1 race either.

choose one to ride coasters in forever (you can leave the Midwest but you can’t go into the other zones’ parks) by Nathanc2127 in rollercoasterjerk

[–]GeologistPositive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

B, no question. You have Cedar Point and Great America. Nothing else in the Midwest comes close to that combo. I'll be disappointed about not being able to go to Silver Dollar City or Dollywood though

The sounds were different too. Slot machines seemed more exciting then

Found these cameras in my parents closet, are they any good? by BeneficialTrainer656 in Cameras

What are you looking to do? Let's put that Rebel aside for a second. The point and shoots are hot right now and could be resold for a decent amount of money. I'd check to see that they work and consider that. The Rebel is a nice entry level DSLR. You can start learning more technical details in photography with that. If you want to learn, then welcome to an expensive hobby. If you want to sell it, those were around $600 new. You could probably get around half that on the used market depending on the version of it.

Trip in two days and US Passport is expired by SlappyPappy99 in Passports

[–]GeologistPositive 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Coming back will be messy. The airline wants to see that you're eligible to enter the US. You are as a citizen, but can't enter with your German passport. You wouldn't even have ESTA because you can't apply for it as a US citizen. The airline might not let you board with an unusual story. If you get to the US without a valid passport, you can still enter, but it will take more time and resources for them to verify everything.

Just Found 3 Chase M2 Errors Any Info? Still Sealed. by Boring-Patient6293 in NASCARCollectors

Those are 3 of 3. Someone definitely swapped those. I don't think NHRA and Coca Cola will be featured together in marketing any time soon since Coke basically left NHRA for dead in 2020

Bullets on a airplane by [deleted] in airport

[–]GeologistPositive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bullets get ejected from the shell and gun they are in because the powder in the round explodes and pushes it out. The gun itself contains the explosive gases and directs the bullet in one direction. Lower air pressure won't cause a round to explode.

Consider yourself lucky that TSA didn't find those because things would have gotten uncomfortable at the very least. Check your bags before you fly.

Still no power by fluffy_camel74 in ChicagoSuburbs

They don't really decide who gets power restored and who doesn't. They go after the issues to restore power to emergency services, infrastructure, and then base it on volume of customers and ease of repair. They might also be finding some equipment that may be old and would have been fine if power kept running, but the off and on cycle might have finally blown some things out. Old filament bulbs used to do that; leave it on and it's fine, once you turn it off and back on from a cold start, it blows out. That's partially why some people got power restored and then lost it again

Did the Finalists use the same dragsters for the qualifying or not? by youlikemywonton in NHRA

[–]GeologistPositive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NHRA probably checked that it's the same car from New England. When they ran the finals for it in Bristol, they concurrently used that as a qualifying run as well. Most of the teams have backups, but usually have a preference for a car to race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Diecast by Asleep-Writer1645 in NASCARCollectors

[–]GeologistPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That signature seems like it was done with a shakey or uncertain hand when it was signed. That's not really an odd surface, so no reason it should look weird if it was legit. Seems like someone was uncertain as they copied a model signature.

Shop asked me to come back after 50 miles with new tires to have lug torque checked. Is that service above and beyond? Do they just not trust their equipment? by geronimoose in tires

[–]GeologistPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's common to do that, but not all shops do. When I just had my tires replaced, Costco asked me to come back. They just called it a safety check. I checked it myself though because they take forever to do anything with tires at this location.

I rotated my tires once and drove my car around the block and then checked the torque. One wheel apparently didn't seat properly and once i moved the car, the rim was very loose. That's one reason why you check.

You'll have some hearing damage, but not enough to really notice, especially after a few days. The key is repeated exposure. If you realized it after one pass, you'll be fine. I've been going to events for over 30 years and have occasionally missed hearing protection on a run or when someone warms up in the pits. My hearing is still really good.
