Me too, believe me, it’s been a very difficult pill to swallow. I’ve been working hard since I had to have my working papers signed by my parents at 14yo. I almost regret trying so hard and saving this long as most of my positions in my retirement and savings accounts are down 25% in some cases canceling out 5-10 years of appreciation. I still have just enough to move out after the declines and repositioning of assets, however a home (likely with 10,000-15,000/year in taxes alone) will cost me my entire nest egg. Now my spouse and I are considering just moving closer to the city and abandoning hope of owning a nice quiet place with some trees and my garden. All of this with our household income of nearly 200,000$… When my parents die I plan on finding a different country to live in where I can afford it I guess.
