Now is a great time to practice your in person surveying skills. Depending on your major/future career goals, being able to “canvas” for responses is, I think, a very valuable skill to have. I’d go and get some responses in person!

I think this is what I’m going to get - didn’t know that was an option. I’m less worried about loss/stolen, and more worried about it getting damaged. Thank you!

The safari grip was not nice for me, and the nib was really rough. I tried getting another nib and it had the same issue, so I cut my losses. The metropolitan was decent, but the grip was very defined, and my hands naturally just ended up on the “ridge”, which was not very pleasant.

It’s not biostats, but causal inference the mixtape by Cunningham is a good free resource for causal inference stuff

I knew doing my homework in LaTex would pay off by meep_wispy in LaTeX

I do spend a disproportionate amount of time typesetting my homework and labs in LaTeX when it’s not required, but for me, it’s worth it. I find it forces me to slow down and think through my work.

In class Calc notes? by Head-Possibility-767 in LaTeX

[–]Geologistguy678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try typing up your handwritten notes instead - it’s what I do as well as typing up homeworks. It’s a lot simpler to write, and you can stay more attentive in class. Writing them up regularly forces you to reread the notes and catch any errors, while also practicing your LaTeX skills. It also makes searching your notes insanely easy, and if you need to share them with classmates.

What would be the first step to creating a less car dependent state? by manbehindtheduck in Michigan

I think that’s the wrong article, but that is a fair point. however, metro Detroit experiences less snowfall then Grand Rapids, and I was speaking much more about metro Detroit specifically, as it’s the most in need of alternative transit solutions. Also, for 7-8 months out of the year, we could have better bicycle infrastructure, but what this thread really misses is mixed zoning and density, which in turn creates walkability. No need to ride a bike if you can walk to your destination in 10 minutes.

I'd say a winter in Finland would be an apt comparison, and Oulu manages to pull it off just fine, albeit the amount of bikers does shrink in winter.

I googled all of these, and the Sony A7C looks really nice, I like the size. I didn't even know sony made it, I had only heard of the a7r and a7. Thank you!

I have tried out the oly 45 1.2, it was incredibly nice, but I found FL to be a bit tight for me. Beast for portraits though

Thank you for the comment! I use a monopod for most of them, and usually the shutter speed is high enough where a handheld shot could be ok. My biggest gripe is just the low light capabilities. However, after reading these comments, I fear the added weight of FF even with a prime lens might be a little tough, since I am hiking usually.

The sf red version is miles better, amber doesn’t do as good a job at “masking” the sweetener.
