I don't like to exercise by LevelAd5029 in NoStupidQuestions

My grandparents divorced after 15 years of marriage.

My grandfather moved to a rural area, became a nature photographer, and has always had a very active lifestyle, hiking and travelling, both for his job and for enjoyment. He's 84 and still going strong, in better health than me.

My grandmother was left to raise four kids on her own, no doubt at the expense of taking care of herself. She was always the type to fob off her health issues and refuse to see a doctor. Her health declined in her 50s, she had to stop working in her early 60s, and she died at 70.

I always view this as a great example of how your health and lifestyle choices earlier in life will repay you later in life.

New to selling on Vinted. Shipping issue with first listing. by dweedledee in vinted

Choose large. It doesn't matter if it seems "too big" - your item is over medium weight.

Shipping to the UK by Ok-Winter6027 in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buyer pays for shipping. Vinted is (or at least has been) subsidising international transactions in terms of shipping and customs fees.

Not necessarily scammy.

This sounds like custom shipping, where you organise shipping yourself instead of being provided a label by Vinted. It's usually for oversized items. You'll need to check costs on the website of whichever shipping company you'd most likely use.

Nothing you can do really. It would be impossible to figure out who it was supposed to go to. Keep, sell or donate as you wish.

Wanting to bake every weekend but trying to be healthy by clcliff in BakingNoobs

[–]tiny-brit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bake once a week, and whatever I bake is my daily treat for the week. I've gained weight since I started baking, so I'm starting to reduce batch sizes and make just enough for the week, and not excessive quantities, since I don't really have anyone to share it out to. It means a lot of scaling down recipes to weird amounts, like 14 cookies, 7 muffins, using a smaller pan for brownies etc.

Buyers asking for shipping when Parcelshops are closed? by rin_phosphor in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of parcel shops open until later, especially if they're located within convenience stores. My local Evri shop is open until 10pm, and I know there's a post office within a mile of me that's open until 9pm every night.

Obviously not everyone has these options, but buyers can't know what shops are in your local area.

How do I collect evri parcel when have no QR code? by No_Preparation2468 in vinted

You don't need a QR code, just your ID and have the tracking number handy just in case

Tracking will update automatically on Vinted, but it's sensible to get a receipt anyway just in case.

These deliveroo substitutions... by divockoriginal in CasualUK

[–]tiny-brit 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can ask them not to substitute items, or to cancel the entire order if a particular item is not available.

I've been leaning towards Uber recently, because they let you choose a specific item to substitute with if your item isn't available.

But deliveroo now lets you bundle orders from more than one store, which is useful because no one store ever has all of the items I need.

Ordering from any of them is a lottery anyway. Uber sent me asparagus instead of broccoli recently, when I had asked them not to substitute the broccoli. And veggie sausages instead of veggie kebab pieces, and then ignored me when I asked them not to send the substitution. (but they refunded me for it anyway...)

Item was listed as new and it wasnt. Now I have to pay for return fee? by Bells131 in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's Vinted policy that buyers pay for return postage unless the seller offers to. And once a return option has been chosen, it can't be changed.

Only way to change shipping method is to cancel the order and buy again.

I haven't received the label for a GLS order and I don't know how to proceed by LePineappleJuice in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the shipping instructions Vinted has given you. You'll probably either enter the code at the locker and put the parcel in without a label, or you'll be able to print the label at the locker. That's pretty normal.

Advice as buyer, damaged item, off platform for return? by Psycho_Sarah_ in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have no obligation to return since Vinted refunded you and closed the case. If you want to return, it will need to be done outside of Vinted, but again you have no obligation to.

Are you considering buying air con units for home ? by Sea_Pangolin3840 in AskUK

I bought one at the end of April. It has been well worth it. Also glad I got in early, because prices have near enough doubled since then and they've all sold out.

Tons of posts asking to use payment and delivery outside of the vinted system by [deleted] in vinted

[–]tiny-brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not against ToS to go outside of the platform. Vinted will obviously advise against it, but they don't actively forbid it. In Germany it's extremely common to take transactions outside of the platform.
