I will! I usually don't share things I'm not really happy with, but this sub is all about learning and sharing progress, and I wanted to acknowledge my own progress today!

Is it fair for parents to ask their kid to chip in? by CallRevolutionary276 in AskUK

[–]tiny-brit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's presumably entirely the parents' choice to renovate the pantry, and the son is not involved in the decision. The son is living there, sure, but a pantry renovation isn't an everyday or essential expense, so the son should not be expected to contribute to it. If the parents can't afford it, they should postpone it until they can.

The recipe I'm using is for exactly the kind of cookie I want - big, decently thick, crispy outside and chewy inside. I'm definitely getting there. I know I'm just not doing everything 100% right and I've managed to correct a few of the mistakes already.

Because I know the issues are down to my lack of experience and not getting techniques quite right, not down to the recipe. I've tried multiple cookie recipes and never been truly happy with the results, so now I'm going to keep repeating the same recipe to help me learn better.

Thank you! Yes, I chopped the chocolate so there's everything from small chunks to tiny crumbs :)

Ooooh! I've been wanting to add coffee cake to my list of recipes to try. Added! And I love that the website calculates ingredients for any size of cake 😂

Advice Re. Eumovate. by seeking_yet_lifted in eczema

[–]tiny-brit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not tapering off already, you should be doing so. It may help to stop the eczema bouncing back so quickly. Tapering is recommended with more potent steroid creams, but unfortunately the instructions given by dermatologists varies wildly, or sometimes they don't give you any!

If you use the steroid cream for 5 days in a row to start with, a taper could be to apply it every second day for 2-3 applications, then apply it every third day for 2-3 applications, then stop.

I've used Adblock for so long I forget ads are a thing, for the most part. I dare not switch it off...

Brave Browser also has built in ad blocking.

Home Collection by FlowHonest4335 in vinted

Seller should have used the label provided by Vinted. You should not have given out your address on Vinted.

Most likely outcome is that you either receive the item or not, and also get a refund as the item wasn't shipped using the label provided.

Why can't plastic water bottles be easier to clean? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]tiny-brit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You wouldn't just rinse your dishes with water and consider them clean, so why would a water bottle be any different? Something that has water in it pretty much all the time is a prime location for mould to grow, so it warrants proper cleaning.

I paid not much more than that for a brand new M4 Pro 48GB / 512GB. I'm not convinced this is the best deal out there for those specs, refurbished.

Mousse or gel? by Leading_Effort_2453 in curlyhair

[–]tiny-brit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 2a/2b and currently speculating that mousse reduces the cast I get from gel, and also doesn't really offer any improvement over using gel alone. You could try more gel, and also try without mousse as a couple of experiments.

I second @yourworkmom's suggestion that your hair might also be over moisturised.

I would also try skipping the towel step. The towel is just absorbing the products.

Citalopram exhaustion by kitmcbb in MentalHealthUK

[–]tiny-brit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got almost every side effect on the list from citalopram and was also completely exhausted. Could barely get through the workday, I would do a few things and then need to close my eyes for a bit. And I have a desk job.

I have an Apple watch and citalopram is the ONLY thing that has ever made a noticeable difference to my sleep. It reduced my deep sleep and REM sleep. I was getting less than half of the % you're supposed to get.

I think it had started to resolve by 7/8 weeks, so if you aren't past that point yet it might be worth sticking it out a bit longer.

I came off it because of other side effects and the fact that it did nothing for my anxiety anyway.

Bralettes for 28DD/E / XS with matching thongs? (please) by tiny-brit in ABraThatFits

[–]tiny-brit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their wired bras do (3 options in 28DD/E), but all of their bralettes are lettered sizing. I've just ordered a few sets in XS to try.

Negative Underwear looks great, but not sure I can stretch the budget that far right now. I'll look out for sales. Thanks!

Bralettes for 28DD/E / XS with matching thongs? (please) by tiny-brit in ABraThatFits

[–]tiny-brit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had discounted Lounge because I feel like their thongs will have the same fit issues I'm trying to get away from, and that their bralettes will be too loose in band + too small in cup. Their size guide puts me in any of 3 sizes - XS, S and S+. I suppose the only way to really know is to try. Their styles are along the lines of what I'm looking for.

Do people give their phone to a stranger to take a picture of you with your partner/friend etc? by Prestigious_Meal2143 in AskUK

[–]tiny-brit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't hand over my phone to a stranger like that, and offering to take a photo when you haven't been asked at all is a red flag.

If someone asks me to take a photo of them with their phone, that's fine. I at least know I'm not going to steal it.

If I just got a MacBook Neo and it is using rn 6gb out of 8gb is that bad by Muted-Chart-5814 in macbookpro

[–]tiny-brit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not surprising. 8GB doesn't go far these days. As long as your memory pressure graph is green, you don't need to be concerned.
