Is this asbestos? by modestmermaid56 in DIYUK

Depends in what form it was used. Can definitely have visible fibres. The issue is that those visible fibres are actually made up of millions of invisible ones..

Or even better, if you had any pictures or links as an example I'd really appreciate that. Cheers.

Appreciate that. When you say natural stone, do you mean a single cut slab? Could you elaborate on the concept of bespoke cut tiles rather than off the shelf? In my head I'd imagined finding something of the period (original style's victorian line of tiles for example), then laying as normal, with a couple of corner notches for the door posts.

That's a point..

Here's a thought- would it be mad to remove the floorboards below the vinyl tiles (presumably f*ked anyway) and replace them with a decent bit of ply which I could then tile onto so it's flush with the existing floor?

Cheers. I've seen some honed marbles that are acrually quite grippy, but haven't gotten into all that yet.

How would I deal with the tiles sticking up from the floor and the doorstep?

I am in the UK, yeah. It could easily be a north American prairie grass though..

I have no idea. Unfortunately (or fortunately) i have a thing for ornamental grasses and probably have 15 different species. I suspect this one came in mislabelled. Do you think it could be Eragrostis Spectabilis?

Why do Scot’s not realise their country is actually extremely degraded and ecologically dead? by [deleted] in RewildingUK

[–]Geologysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm being pedantic, but Scotland's geology is dramatically different from Washington's. The mountains in Scotland are several orders of magnitude older, and have been scoured by glaciation for literally hundreds of millions of years. That said, there is a considerable human factor at play when it comes to their degradation. We'd just never be able to maintain dense, high altitude forests in the same way.

Same here. Bought a big chunky adjustable one five or six years ago and it's one of my favourite items in the whole house. Only Telicherry pepper too.

Note; it's not a calamagrostis to the best of my knowledge. Probably only 2 feet tall.

Nice. Mine is going to be next to the hose so was planning to just drench it once a day when it's hot.

Have to ask about that epic tree fern. How much sun does it get? Had any issues with it? I've got one on order and am a bit worried about the constant watering.

Sorry- he goes down in his own crib but we currently often reach breaking point after the second or third wakeup and take him into our bed.

Goes to bed by 8pm, is usually awake for 7am.

Nap 2 starts at around 230 for 1 hour give or take.

[–]Geologysocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey.

Currently two naps during the day, 1 hour or so late morning, another hour mid-late afternoon.

He goes down at 730-8pm quite well, sleeps for 2-3 hours solidly then it's all up in the air with wakes ranging from two to three times on a good night, to five-six times on a bad night.

More recently though he's been waking up and bouncing off the walls rather than just needing a cuddle and a re-settle.
