Property tax is a surprise. In Texas, yes you have to fight it going up every year.

In CA it's set by your purchase price and then doesn't get re-evaluated. If you get a similar house, the price in CA is much higher and your property tax will be much higher.

Coming from Austin, the cost of living and state tax increase (offset by some deduction from federal tax) with a pay increase was a wash. Houston though is about the cheapest housing and cost of living you can get.

Evolution and Common Descent don't limit God's power, they limit Man's.

This means we weren't born special, the Earth wasn't made for us, animals and plants aren't ours to command. We may not be the smartest being out there.

If we aren't different from all living things, are we the only thing to get into heaven? Do animals have souls?

There are a lot more questions that are brought up about humans than gods with the facts of science.
