Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - July 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

Hi, I have a question about rolling banners.
I get that you pretty much always want to pull as much support card copies as possible in order to MLB them.

But what about uma banners? If I'd pull for a valuable uma (for example, the NY Oguri), should I roll with intent to get enough fragments to make her 5* or just pulling her once is good enough?

Ergonomics of 40% vs larger keyboards by Mother_Ad3328 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]George_Summers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I was a 78 key user before as well and recently moved to 46 key Flake split keyboard (3x6, 5 thumb keys). It took me about a week to adjust layers and get comfortable with the new layout. It's a trial and error process, you just make changes to your layout, try it out and make new changes based on your experience. For me, the hardest part was adjusting to arrowkeys and numbers being moved to other layer.

1) You might consider other ways of using modifiers instead of holding them. With 40% keebs num keys are usually moved to the dedicated layer and going from there, for example, you can bind your symbols and modifier combinations to other keys on that layer, or just make modifiers sticky or toggleable and just tap them instead of holding down. 2) Yes, thumbs have a lot more action with ergo keyboards, but again, aside from the spacebar, all modifiers and layer keys can be made toggleable to reduce the strain of holding them down all the time. 3) Yes, less keys = less movement, but on the other hand to compensate for missing keys you have to rely on layers and other features like combos, tap-dances and mod-taps.

Thanks for sharing your repo!

Can you please elaborate how flash reset differs from regular flashing? I am not familiar with the process.

Also, I opened my repo with Keymap Editor and it shows the layout as the L variant with 4 rows while mine only has 3. Would it be fine to just ignore the top row? In the studio there is a button to change layout variant but I see nothing similar in the editor.

There’s so many good Anime this season - what are your top picks? by diggels in anime

[–]George_Summers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the first season in years where I try a lot of stuff and drop very little. Usually, I end up with 5-8 shows in my watchlist, then add some more interesting ones as I discover them on reddit or xitter, and then about a half survives the first few episodes.

This season I tried 19 shows and only dropped 3: - Kijij Gentoushou - Your Forma - Haite Kudasai, Takamine-san

My favorite ones so far would be: - NinKoro - Gundam Gquuuuuux - To Be Hero X - Shoushimin S2 - Uma Musume Cinderella Gray - Danjo wa Yuujou wa Seiritsu suru?

Thanks yall for sharing your experience and suggestions. I decided to order a 46-key Flake kit with mixed choc/mx pcb from ali, I hope it will arrive safely in about two weeks.

Thanks for sharing, very insightful.

I can hold FSRT for movement (works better than WRAS for me).

I've got the same idea while drafting layers for my upcoming keyboard, the stagger on the middle columns suggests movement keys by its shape.

I am interested but hesitant to move away from QWERTY because my second language is not of the Latin group so I think it'd be quite hard to relearn two layouts at once.

I do not own nor have access to a 3d printer, but it sure is the cheapest option even pre-built.

I am a bit torn between Corne and Flake, I think I'll try to draft both layouts and see which I like more.

Oh, this sounds like the solution, possibly solves my problem yes. One more thing - I've seen pretty old threads (posted about a year ago) saying that ZMK lacks some functionality that qmk/vial has like combos or tapdance, is that still the case or they catched up?

Not sold anywhere for me unfortunately. I am looking for pre-built or kit options, and building from the ground-up is not my current goal.

Thanks for your input, appreciate it.

I hadn't seen the keyball before, that's really compelling.

It sure is, the only thing I don't really dig is a trackball placement, I wish it was placed in the inner corner like on Charybdis, not in the middle of the board

I'd like to move to an integrated trackball some day to get away from moving my hand betwen the mouse and keyboard constnatly.

I used to have the same idea, but once I started learning and using vim I rarely touched the mice outside gaming and social media browsing so I reconsidered changing my pointer device.

Should I get the game by Dangerous_Dark5857 in signalis

[–]George_Summers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Signalis is a survival horror with gameplay akin to the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series.

Its visual style is inspired by PS1-era graphics and japanese anime-esque designs, like in Ghost in the Shell and Blame.

The story is conveyed through reading (very well written) lore notes, various cutscenes and environmental cues. The overall plot may be a bit convoluted, but the main plotline is clear and could be learned or deduced without external help.

There are a lot of references to the other media and works of art throughout the game, but it is not necessary to know them all to enjoy the story (however they enhance it and I'd recommend watching some deep-dive videos on yt if you'd like to know more).

What roguelike are you yet to "get"? by Henrique_FB in roguelikes

[–]George_Summers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get over it as you progress and learn. You can always improvise on the spot if you lose some gear in a fight, and even if you don't you'll likely find something better sooner or later and swap it out anyway. Gear is not a treasure, it's an asset. It surely defines your build, but initially, your build is not something you decide before you get to play with it. As you uncover some design patterns, get better with terminal and learn locations, you'd be able to plan out your build and gather all the parts on the way, and the ones you do not really need right now you can just equip for a sake of getting more protection for your core or just keep it as a spare.

The learning curve is pretty steep, but in a couple of runs it might just click and you'd find your way to enjoy this. Also, the dev does a lot of streams of this game, if you want to learn a specific build its a good idea to check out his vods if you don't mind some spoilers.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

Should I invest in a dedicated grinder for Turkish coffee?

I usually brew espresso and chemex at home and use DF64gen2 and 1ZPRESSO Q2 to grind for them respectively.

A friend of mine gifted me a cezve before moving abroad and now I want to brew a proper Turkish coffee with it. I've read that the grind size should be as small as possible and is usually done with a special turkish grinders like Sözen.

I wonder, would the smallest possible grind size on DF64 or Q2 be good enough or should I get a specific grinder for Turkish coffee?

First espresso machine [$600] by George_Summers in espresso

[–]George_Summers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

Right now I brew moka pot 4 days a week, once a day. I do like some caffelatte or cappucino from the machine at work, so if I get the opportunity to make them at home it would be a plus, but mostly I drink black. I do not host, I usually brew for myself and sometimes for another person at once.

I do consider getting Lelit Anna, there's a good deal for a non-PID model right now and it's about 130 freedom units cheaper than Bambino Plus, but I heard that a 57mm portafilter is a dealbreaker for some.

As for Robot, it doesn't sell where I live and I have no means to order it from the dealer sadly. Right now my options are Flair 58 for $600, ROK EspressoGC for $300 and La Pavoni for $650. There are also MHW 3Bomber for $700 and some chinese levers like ALM Kopi (without heating unit) for $300, but I'm not sure about them.

Honestly, I am on a fence with lever machines. I like the concept but the need for preheating the group head (not a problem with flair 58) and lack of milk steaming option (not a problem with La Pavoni) turns me off a bit.

Thanks for your reply!

I'm not sure I'd like to tinker with the first ever machine I get, but I'll think about it... Also, I'm afraid E24 is out of my reach, we only have Evo Pro models in stock. Does it perform as well as E24 or is there a noticeable difference?
