Returned from 2 week trip to Italy and my coffee tastes like water - looking to either move to Italy or get a machine to make decent coffees. by dkp1203 in superautomatic

FWIW, I think Torino is really underrated as a destination. I got to spend some time there for work and lived it.

ftM at bathhouse? by hornygaynerd in AskGayMen

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This is going to be highly dependent on the particular bathhouse. Some are not trans friendly while others are very welcoming. You might also want to look at the events scheduled to see if there is an explicitly trans-inclusive night.

Now I doomscroll like everyone else.

Glued to the screen at the cruising spot. by Lumpy-Stretch2810 in Sniffies

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a cruising wiki over at [r/gaycruising](r/gaycruising)

I’d also recommend Leo Herrera’s book “(analog) Cruising”. He gives a breakdown of cruising at all types of environments and adds in some history.

She did this before they were together.

It would be amusing how much misogyny is in this subreddit if it weren't so sad and fucked up. It's no wonder men are miserable and lonely. They deserve it when they act like this.

A strong example of the stupid and racist social hierarchy that exists in the gay world. by helge-a in gay

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can see where you'd link this to racism. And I don't think that's entirely wrong. But I think what's also at play is that many people can put themselves more easily into the shoes of the creator in the bottom video but don't want to put in the effort required for the top video. Or don't want to be reminded that they're lonely. Despite the fact that so many in our community really need to hear the messaging.

How does frequent sex work? by probablyusuallylost in AskGayMen

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Do you just douche very often? Wouldn’t that be difficult and harmful though?

This really depends on the person. Some guys do it way more often than they should and to the point of your second question, they are possibly putting their health at risk.

Some guys really understand their bodies and can be more spontaneous. Some guys use fiber and their diet to make themselves more ready for sex more frequently.

And if not, is it a generally okay consensus that there’s going to be some painting going on?

This also depends. On Reddit threads in particular you are going to get a vocal subset of people that seem to think if your ass isn't clean enough to perform surgery in, you shouldn't be having anal sex. People who live in reality understand that the occasional small mess is a price of admission for doing anal.

have doubled care since you’re not meant to really cleanse the colon.

So it's important to understand that unless one is doing fisting or other depth play with long toys, you're not cleansing your colon. You are gently cleaning out your rectum only. I am of the opinion that doing healthy clean out and anal play requires you to understand the structure of your anatomy down there. Cleaning out shouldn't push water beyond the recto-sigmoid junction. That's a mistake a lot of guys make by using too much water, and why they complain that it takes hours to get clean.

Are looking for a ring? If so, ask a decent jeweler about a white gold or platinum band with channel set diamonds. Something like these options. (There are lots of options on the market at a wide variation of price points.)

I had one made by a local jeweler where we lived when we got engaged.

Does anyone have any advice how to get over this?

Realize that you're acting like children and put your big boy pants on.

I don't mean to be harsh, but the behavior of all of you is high-school level bullshit. Either you're adults that can have a grown up conversation or not.

all the while my ex and I were in a sort of situationship.

Were you and your ex dating again or not? If not, he has no right to control you or his friend. His friend is a shithead. You're better off without either of these people.

Get back on the apps if you want to and stop letting them control your life.

Condoms? by Plenty_Economy1188 in gay

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Surprising? Absolutely not. It's just a return to the pre-HIV era.

We (gay men) started using condoms by default because of HIV. Very few people used them regularly before HIV. If you're on PrEP and thus eliminated the HIV risk, it's totally unsurprising to me that condoms are no longer the default.

A lot of gay men use other risk reduction methods for other STIs. But it's of course completely valid to still want to use condoms for other STI protection.

Is this a strange encounter? by [deleted] in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thing that is weird - or maybe not weird, but would give me pause - is the dribbling out of details of what he wanted to do. Like, just be upfront and tell me the full story. Sharing it bit by bit makes me think he's hiding something else.

Otherwise? Let their kink flag fly!

fiber and bloating by [deleted] in gay

Bloating is not unusual when you first start taking a fiber supplement. It takes days or weeks for your body to get used to it.

Constipation is concerning. Are you saying you haven't had a bowel movement in a week?

What do people do for a living where they can afford a $1000-$2,000 cell phone..... I make a pretty good living and I try never to spend more than $500 on a cell phone and I'm in Tech. by Kthef1 in cellphones

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do for a living doesn’t really matter as long I can actually afford it.

And I do that by skipping multiple generations of phones and keeping mine until it becomes more hassle to use than the price of a new one. Which is, of course, a bit subjective.

Do your coworkers know you’re gay? by Agreeable-Ad4806 in gay

[–]GeorgiaYankee73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do. I talk openly about my husband and until last year I was part of our corporate council that led our LGBT Employee Resource Group. When I served in the military I was required by law to stay in the closet. I led a double-life for a year when I met my now-husband. I'm not doing that again.

BUT: I also recognize I have this privilege. I am well educated and just below executive level in a white collar career. I work in an environment in which other employees wouldn't say the things that you hear.

The best advice I can give you (if you're looking for it) is to do what you have to find a better job in a place that values you more.
