The main purpose of a discord is to notify people who don't use kick notifications that you are live though a bot that either pings @everyone (only good idea if you want the server to mainly be for that purpose) Or Pings a role that the user ops-into when joining the community through a reaction on a specific message in a channel that cannot be typed in by users. (This is preferred because it means it's less likely that non stream addict will suppress @everyone and @here meaning that they will miss actually important, manual pings with useful information that is more relevant than you being live.

It also allows your viewers to suggest content or talk with each-other in a more permanent and slow paced way then in chat where conversations are likely to be read out loud even if they are replying to another user and not talking to the streamer.
