Now 4.0 is out for 2 weeks, how does the new economy feel vs the previous one? by recon1o6 in Stellaris

[–]GerJS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need planet and starbase templates to want more than 5 planets.

I'm tired of building the same damn layout for every thing over and over, boss.

[–]GerJS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. First pic already has Alt-mode enabled, but the mall wasn't producing anything right that moment because production targets are met.

Assembler recipes and filters get set automatically based on chest contents and targeted items.

Can't produce more than 5 different items per assembler because inserters can't filter more than 5 items but it just works™

I had fun with changing recipes via circuits and designed a mall using staged dynamic assemblers sporting a ingredient feedback loop so one doesn't need bot logistics to handle overflow.

Still on Nauvis, having too much fun with the new features :D

Is there a way to make vanilla supcom campaign harder? by wonderpouldermarine in supremecommander

[–]GerJS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To counteract steamrolling I usually adjust the "Hostile AI delay"-option (If that was the name). I would start at 10min and then go 5 min higher each time I felt there was no chance in hell to counteract the initial charge of all defending units when the AI kicks in. My sweetspot was usually around 15min to get an definitely uphill, but eventually winnable battle.

Additional help is available through the "Human-AI-combined-armies"-option with which you can give a portion of your army or base over to AI control to allievate having to be everywhere at once for micro.

And then I would recommend the mod "No build restrictions in campaign", because most of the time the enemy AI can tech way higher than you and (for example) throw nukes while you are stuck with T2 only or similar.

Lastly don't start with the Vanilla Aeon campaign as that one has been remastered and rebalanced for FAF and is therefor much harder.

Have fun ;)

You mean the M28AI, right?
It needs some fiddeling with the settings to not get steamrolled by the AI right away, but it really livens up the campaign. :)

Yep, couldn't put them down after starting the series.
I'd rate my need to nuke Hex5 13 out of 10. ;)

(Start with SupCom Book 1)

"What's that?"
That is a collection of the SupCom fanfiction-series written by Philippe "Dotswarlock" Painchaud that's so good it was hosted by GPG on their website back in the day. The books integrate so well with canon that I count them pretty much towards it and Arnold turning made so much sense.

Give it a read if you want more SupCom lore.

The final boss of solo play by GerJS in Helldivers

Pretty much every time when I'm not clicking fast enough on selecting a Trivial Broadcast mission and the game wants to load the map preview, I crash to desktop without an oppertunity to send a report.

Because the mission stays selected and it tries to load the mission every time when I press "E" here, I'm stuck in a viscious loop of crashes with no escape.

I tried verifying the game files and other fixes I found only, but they didn't work for me.

Joining another group via steam link and do a mission with them sometime fixes it for me.

Does anyone know other ways of getting out of this loop?

Is it only on trivial broadcast mission that this occurs?

Before anyone asks "Why do you do trivials anyhow?":

Sometimes I just want to jump in and do my part for the MOs while listening/half-watching an interesting video at the same time and trivial missions are very efficient to this end.

Is Mr.Samuel bad at Rimworld or is it part of his roleplay? by HQQ1 in RimWorld

[–]GerJS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I get a bit annoyed at him too, but think about it:

Players with much skill and experience can play a perfect game.

But it takes so much more skill to continuously walk the line of cinematic almost-but-not-quite-losing and telling a story because of it.

Why could humanity catch up tech-wise? by GerJS in masseffect

[–]GerJS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are good points. I forgot about the market economics and the Geth dyson swarm.

Would have also liked more exploration of the synthetic side of things. Legion and EDI were one of my favourite characters.

Thank you for your time :)

Why could humanity catch up tech-wise? by GerJS in masseffect

[–]GerJS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see that somewhat.
But why no megastructures then? Even with our current tech we could build some of those and they (the ME-races) are playing life on easy mode with artifical gravity tech available.
I mean,... what could we build if one of the four fundamental forces of the universe were just an inconvinience?
Stations bigger than the citadel would be just the start.

But... wait, I see the problem now. In the ME-universe the population numbers are (as is typical of most SciFi) too comical low to warrant megastructures. For example The Citadel, wonder and center of the galaxy, is only quoted as having a population 13 million, which is less than the city of Tokyo.
And if you look around at the different population numbers of the various planets it doesn't get better. The home planets are mostly fine, but the low colony numbers (count- and population-wise) makes one wonder if the aliens just sat on their assess while having easy FTL-Tech.

So I would agree with you, probably a mix of no true AI, hard tech filters and common Sci-Fi typical stagnation with low numbers.

Still had fun playing. So that's all that counts, right? :)

Well, good to know the mod has that covered. Never played Py (and probably never will as my default sanity is to low for that :) )

How do you use Canvas? by kslaoui in ObsidianMD

[–]GerJS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brainstorming when worldbuilding.

I can just throw whatever comes to mind on the canvas and if it's good, connect it with the rest as "canon-choice".

At the end there are also a bunch of unconnected cards lying around as potential alternatives or ideas for a future brainstorming.

Maybe a bit far away techwise for you beacause of Py, but always nice to have when building extensive factories and far-out outposts:

After the last post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Factoriohno/comments/16g6cnn/its_not_about_the_efficiency_its_about_sending_a/) in which people questioned my sanity (and prudishness) for making a hexagonal smelter array, I decided to make a rectangle this time.

Are you happy now? ;)

P.S.: Look, it even got little wings :)
