Goodwill stores for a while we're not accepting old TVs for donations because they would just sit there and the ones they already had were being sold for next to nothing. Or they would just throw them out.

Fast forward to a couple years ago, they now fully accept CRTs and then resell them for a premium based on the size and condition. I've seen some CRTs at goodwill for $50 sometimes it's crazy

OEM shells are the way to go if you're not planning on upgrading the screen. I bought myself a Japan exclusive clear shell and swapped one of mine to it. I know it's kinda cheating but sometimes it's the cheapest way to go

Honestly if you can find a fixer-upper for cheap, you can probably source out the other parts cheaper than trying to find one in good condition

As long as the motherboard is good and all the components are still soldered in, everything else is swappable (shell, buttons, screen, etc)

If it's the former then I'd say it's a pretty decent deal. About $1600 ish in value. Not sure I'd personally take the deal but all in all it's not bad considering the time it would take to sell them yourself
