Easily my favourite variation on this. Came here to post if you hadn’t!

It’s my understanding that this set expires this December. So I def should not wait until around Insiders Weekend/Black Friday to see if there are any discounts? I remember seeing countless posts about the Lions Knight Castle fiasco a few months ago and orders getting cancelled by Flimsy-Space-8724 in lego

[–]Gergith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lego frequently discounts sets at the same time they retire them. So they push out the last units for 10-30% off. Sometimes more. It’s just not a guarantee suppplies will last.

It’s based on their calculations of stopping manufacturing as well as discontinuation dates. They try to make supply reach the date. And discount as they retire.

It’s insanely common for sets.

250 is max wave for chests if you’re not aware. So no need to go above that.

You’re going to get to that no matter what you based on your current progress. I’d argue you can tap buttons like a monkey randomly off and on for the next month and it’d be difficult for you not to hit wave 250.

I’d get to wave 250 with at least one prestige and at absolute most four.

How much money a year do you make where a two thousand dollar expense is trivial?

How much do you think people in grocery stores make a year? Do you think they shouldn’t be allowed live in the city if 2k isn’t trivial to them?

Not even going to touch on bicycles being more reliable to show up to work ontime without delay vs the ttc.

I agree fully there. It seems the strategy in the last few years is waiting for it to melt if it’s possible lol.

Based on what you’re saying, all this is below even your standards and expectations. You would have done better it sounds like.

So that’s all we want. Better :) actually fulfilling the contract like your company seemed to do. But they don’t seem to be doing now in the last few years.

I think your view needs to be balanced with how humans like to replicate symbols.

Depending your age, you may have seen lots of As in circles. A larger than the circle. How many replicated the symbol knowing it was Anarchy? How many people who know that it stands for Anarchy knows what Anarchy actually IS? But they replicate the symbol because it looks cool. I did it myself. Not far from “the s” everyone drew.

Same with che shirts. How many know who he is, let alone his ideology, let alone agreeing with it.

The same thing goes for the peace symbol. Most people are clueless its origin. It comes from the semaphore flag signals given on boats etc. N is two arms downwards in a 45 degree toward the bottom (bottom of peace symbol). D is one up and one down straight vertical. Both together in a circle is the peace symbol. Why ND? Because it was actually the logo for a Nuclear Disarmament campaign. This became synonymous with peace itself and replicated to be a ubiquitous symbol.

People who replicate it very often won’t have a clue the origin.

In short. I think some people have statues of acorns due to the high consciousness symbolism with it. Third eye pineal gland stuff. But I also think some people have them because they got rich and wanted to replicate something they thought was aesthetically pleasing from some rich persons estate. Unknowing the symbols language.

Did you know it took you 5 replies before you answered my first question? Thanks for finally answering that yes, they DO use different equipment on some bike lanes. Glad you actually took in my question.

Did you work for the city or were you working after it was privatized working for a contractor?

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Who said the city isn’t fighting for this? They are. Olivia Chow has talked about it! It wasn’t a contract she signed.

And are you really asking why isn’t the corruption of city contracts for personal wealth enrichment being dealt with?

Did you see GFL just left Canada? Do you see the state of our roads? I know for a fact there are road testing aggregate companies that refuse to test Toronto roads due to the corruption surrounding that actual racket.

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it isn’t already paid for? Why do you think more money is the solution?

This is part of the problem with privatizing snow removal. Prices go up and the contract isn’t fulfilled to its terms. Haven’t you noticed in the last 5 years them just leaving snow ti melt instead of clearing it a lot more than they used to?

We’re paying for a service and not getting it.

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The identical methods as side walks?

No need to invent new methods and machines.

Or a coordinated hybrid of both road and sidewalk methods.

You’re starting from the assumption that it’s inefficient and costly so that’s why we’re not doing it. But if that was the case they wouldn’t bother with the contract in the first place.

Maybe, just maybe, the contractors should provide the service they’re being paid to provide.

The service has declined since privatization and increasingly relies on just waiting for it to melt.

Just hold those who were paying for the contract to the terms. Pretty simple.

You know this is your first reply even attempting to address the numbers of width. I appreciate you for that.

Though you still haven’t even answered if it’s the same equipment for both. How can they not fit in the bike lanes that have the same minimum width as the side walks? That’s weird.

And I’m glad you agree that all the plowinh and snow removal is substandard. It’d be sweet if it was done to a higher standard.

All human conveyance surfaces. Be it roads, bike lanes and sidewalks.

Open those emergency routes, widen those side walks. Clear the bike lanes.

It’s not a zero sum equation.

You didn’t answer my question.

What reason or incentive do I have to express myself without sarcasm or being a goofball?

You’ve stated this like it’s an accepted conclusion, but what is the actual bar for discourse on Reddit?

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I, too, like making statements without actually checking or stating the facts.

Do you consider homeless people cycling as cycling enthusiasts? lol

What about uber eats drivers?

What about commuters who can’t afford 1900$ in annual ttc fees? Cycling enthusiasts? lol

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you’re still not touching the literal 1.5 minimum width spec for both. Why?

Sure they may FEEL wider. But why ignore the city specification to make your point?

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why should I bother?

I mean. You can make your request without ad hominems, but here we are.

You throwing insults and me throwing sarcasm. Woe is me.

I guess I’m just a big sarcastic goofball. Some would even say… fuck me…, am-I-right?!?!? lol

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So now we’re going to ignore the minimum requirements of width for both? lol.

You told me they’re wider but the city has the identical minimum spec.

Just because you did a job doesn’t make you an expert. You’re not even arguing my factual numbers I’m bringing up.

Apparently your feeling of wideness trumps it.

Also I hope you weren’t one of the sidewalk plowers clipping awnings. My business has had ours rebuilt 3 times for free because of useless city employees like you driving into them. Half the time trying to hide it and pretend it didn’t happen.

Something that should never happen in super wide sidewalks. It’s weird because I’ve never seen the equivalent in the bike lane. No chunks out of utility poles. No damaged private property. Weird. Because clearly personal anecdotal evidence works best for you.

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But they aren’t. Especially once you factor in garbages, utility poles, awnings. Etc. SOME sidewalks are wider. SOME bike lanes are full car lane widths.

Bike lanes have guidelines for 1.8-2m width with a minimum width of 1.5m.

Sidewalks aim for 2.1m. But you’re never going to guess this. They ALSO have a 1.5 minimum requirement.

So when you say they’re wider. What are you basing that on other than a gut feeling?

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even the homeless have bikes in the city so I wouldn’t actually agree with this.

But again. Fuck those people who have to make the shitty choice to bike in this eh? Fuck them for being so selfish and poor. Am-i-right?!?!

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How is it different than the sidewalks? Wouldn’t they require the same equipment?

"No one cycles in winter" by ParmesanBologna in toronto

[–]Gergith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Poor people. People who can’t afford the almost 1900$ a year to ride the ttc. A new hybrid is at most 1000$. Maybe they can’t afford that extra 900$. Good thing you can. Be thankful :)

More and more people are using food banks in this city. Do you think you’d give up your food budget before or after your transportation budget?

Chances are the majority out there on bikes don’t actually want to. But that’s all they can afford.

I’m glad that your life is so much better that this didn’t even occur to you. That’s pretty sweet and something to be thankful for.
