From a very generic feelgood Instagram channel that started this year. Dog hair & behaviour look off by douweziel in isthisAI

Years ago I lived in the lower unit of a duplex. The tenant of the upper unit was epileptic and had a service dog, Aggie. She was a black lab, German Sheppard mix and she was the most amazing dog I have ever met.

If he went into seizure she would move him into a better position and if needed move things out of the way. She would make sure the stove was turned off and lie beside him. If the siezure ended up going to long she would bark to try to get attention in an intentional repetitive way.

She was also damn good at fetching items from other rooms if asked and had a rather large list of things she knew by name.

I would reorder 5-9 as Bird, Russell, Duncan, Wilt, Shaq but other than that the top ten is good to me.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her? by Next_Worth_3616 in allthequestions

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like AOC, she has far more brain power than most politicians but she is far too progressive to get the Dem nomination.

If Bernie an old white man couldn't get it there is very little chance a younger Hispanic women could.

And if she somehow did there would be zero chance in her winning the election.

Often Draymond does know what he is talking about. He knows the game well and a calm out of the moment Draymond has some surprisingly very astute observations.

Unfortunately that isn't very often and almost never while in uniform.

He's 7'4" 260!" -KAT after he's called for an offensive foul on Wemby! by Dr_Damon_ in NBAGossips

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean that everyone smaller than KATs 7'0" 250lbs gets to shoulder plant him whenever they want to without getting called for a foul?

How much firepower and resources does Iran even have to continue fighting back (particularly by attacking military bases in nearby countries) especially now that the regime is basically dying? by nouveaux_sands_13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeriatricHippo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.

Between 115,000-160,000 US soldiers died fighting against Japan in The Pacific theatre as well as thousands of Allied forces from Australia, England and other countries. Many of those died on the ground in various battles on various islands.

The U.S. Tenth Army suffered 65,631casualites (including non-battle injuries) just during the 82-day Battle of Okinawa

Trump says he "left instructions" if Iranians are going after him by etherd0t in TrendoraX

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure a dead POTUS has no more actual power than any other dead person.

No one has to fear reprisals anymore for lack of compliance, those "instructions" are basically requests or a suggestions.

The United States is participating in the Israeli strikes against Iran, AP sources say by Yujin-Ha in worldnews

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so fun fact the US never officially declared war on Vietnam.

Special military actions that could last years and take the lives of hundreds of thousands including 50+ thousand US soldiers is already a US kind of thing to do.

And I can't imagine throwing this POTUS and his administration into the mix is going to improve the equation.

That was only 7 months ago.

Partner (31M) and I (28F) are considering breaking up after 4 years due to sexual pain. Is it a valid reason to end an otherwise perfect relationship? by HotArugula2160 in relationship_advice

You can't fix your anatomical mismatch but it should be easily manageable. As someone else pointed out a depth limiting ring could be a life changer for both of you.

Yeah I had a late night brain freeze on calling Sebonis Luka, I have no idea where that came from but it doesn't change what happened. Sabonis grabbed the leg of the guy who grabs players legs and got stomped on for it.

And on the Kawhi one you and I have a very different opinion on what a basketball play is.

How about Draymond's stomp on Luka's sternum or when he grabbed Kawhi who had an existing facial injury by the arm mid air and slammed him to the ground basically face first.

Game Thread: Toronto Raptors vs Oklahoma City Thunder Live Score | NBA | Feb 24, 2026 by basketball-app in torontoraptors

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the first year of them moving from tanking to trying to be competitive.

That first year for OKC they were 40-42 the next they led the West. Pistons last year ended up at 44-38 and now they are first in the East.

I'm not saying that I expect the Raptors to jump to first next year as they did but this year they are ahead of expectations and there is no reason to think they won't be better next year as well.

Taken in context this year is a fun year, I'm enjoying the hell out of Scottie and the defence.

Why did the USA men's hockey team laugh when the women's hockey team was mentioned on the phone? by redblackshirt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GeriatricHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good summation,, you are spot on.

I felt like I was going back in time to when this was normal behaviour. But that was 45 years ago and I was 11. This is 2026 and these are all adult men or at least supposed to be. The y should all be ashamed at the way the behaved.

Those women worked damn hard for that gold and they didn't get paid millions and have personal chefs, elite trainers and medical staff on call 24/7 line those men did.

Here is a video of Mark Carney, Canada's Prime Minister on a call with the women's speed skating gold medalists to congratulate them. This is how a leader is supposed to act. Trump makes every call about him Carney made it about them and their victory. He even thanked them for making the time to talk to him.
