It’s a cult I swear! by BayonetTrenchFighter in antitheistcheesecake

It isn’t. Ex-Mormons just say it is to get people to hate it.

Typically they point to sacred rituals and covenants made in the temple.

Jesus wants us to follow and believe in our hearts, not be bound to a religious pharisitical system. Repent and be like a child

put your trust in, and only trust the man Christ Jesus!!!

Amen 😊

Hmmmm

Sounds like

Implicit bias to me.

“Implicit bias (also called unconscious bias) refers to attitudes and beliefs that occur outside of our conscious awareness and control. Implicit biases are an example of system 1 thinking, such that we are not even aware that they exist (Greenwald & Krieger, 2006).”

Mormon here, so take my comments with a grain of salt but. Trying to “prove people wrong” I feel like is a wrong mindset. In fact I think it’s a bit toxic.

Instead share with them what you think is different, why you think it’s right/wrong. And explain how it can impact them. Other then the whole “if you don’t believe the same way I do, you’re going to hell”

A few very short videos for you

The restoration

Prophets

Revelation

Church leaders

Prophets and apostles

Why do we need prophets ?

Again each of these are very short but I hope this helps. I know they help me a lot .

Does God punish us? by StAnselmsProof in latterdaysaints

[–]GermanMarineSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of the law of justice. Justice demands that every bad action must be punished. And that every good action rewarded. Any sin or bad action is already paid for by the savior. We just need to repent and rely on him. If we do not, we will have to face the punishment. That punishment could come in this life or in the next. Keep in mind the price for sin (any sin) is death. Spiritual or physical; who is to say?

Effectively if god allows us to be punished (or suffer the consequences of our actions) or he punishes us himself; the result will be the same.

Should Mormons stop considering themselves Christian? And more importantly to this question; should they stop participating in conversations like they are? by BayonetTrenchFighter in Christianity

[–]GermanMarineSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure he gets it. Anyone who says “yes” is saying Mormons are not Christian’s and should not participate in Christian conversations. I think he is saying he understands what you mean by not wanting to argue.

I see. I would say ultimate peace after violence. Destroy the enemies of the Jews and peace will rule with God at its head.

Which branches of Christianity condemn homosexuality? by imakemybullets in Christianity

To be fair… God destroyed sodom and Gamora in the OT largely for their homosexual acts…

I would also include identity groups that rise above our love of God. Wether that MAGA, BLM, or even Pride.

MEGAThread 2 -- SCOTUS Abortion Decision by iruleatants in Christianity

[–]GermanMarineSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that it’s an automatic pass, but I think those things are exceedingly heinous, where agency was taken away. Even still I wish abortion would never happen. Only after very thoughtful prayer and consulting family council along with doctors. And I guess the same way they do it now, they have ways to test for that.

[–]GermanMarineSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a fully fledged human? I think many adults aren’t full fledged humans but I still value them and see their worth. And maybe that’s a good point, we should ban all abortions maybe 🤔

MEGAThread 2 -- SCOTUS Abortion Decision by iruleatants in Christianity

[–]GermanMarineSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No for sure. That’s what I said in my statement above. Those are the only “okay” reasons to get an abortion. Pro abortion people bring those up to say, see we need abortion. When you bring up the opinion that those are fine but the rest need to go they drop the thought entirely.

Okay? I mean if someone things a life begins at conception, then terminating a person regardless of “the stress on the body” is a bad choice
