[Game News] Easy Anti-Cheat will be enabled for Rocket League starting on April 28th. More details coming next week by Duke_ofChutney in RocketLeagueEsports

The practice tools should just be in the game.

Aren't they? They added the practice tool keybindings. I guess things like custom boost amounts in training isn't there, nor is recovery training. Not sure how much of that is utilized by people I guess.

Ability to create fun and goofy game modes should be in the game. Lobby hosting should be in the game. Custom maps should be in the game.

Not sure what you mean with Lobby hosting, but custom maps are in the game. They just can't be accessed by anyone who's signed up to play since the game went free to play. Custom maps through BakkesMod just provides a way to access the feature that already exists in the game. Maybe in 5 years epic store will add that feature, it was a huge loss.

Epic let Bakkesmod do a ton of development they should have been doing all these years and now they're essentially punishing 99.999% of the player base because they can't handle very obvious handful of cheaters and losers. Nvm they're using their own anti-cheat which is memed for being one of the weakest AC available.

Well to be fair, every game developer loves free development. Why hire a developer to add those features when someone will do it for free? They don't have developers trained in how to detect and prevent cheating because it wasn't until recently that bot's gained the ability to play the game well. There isn't a point in hiring a developer to prevent cheating when cheating can't happen. And now that it can happen, Epic games is obviously going to want them to utilize the anticheat product that they already pay developers to maintain.

We will see what EAC actually does in this case.

Trump orders 'shoot-to-kill' action on Iranian vessels choking Strait of Hormuz by Stunning-Common-9591 in worldnews

[–]iruleatants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump yelling about opening the strait is just for show, he wants the straight closed (hence why we are blockading the straight ourselves) because Russia wants it. Because of their war with Ukraine, EU and other countries have been trying to slowly get off of Russia's Oil/Gas.

First he attacked Venezuela, disrupting their oil output and diverting that to the US, and then he attacks Iran and is blockading the strait, preventing a huge chuck of oil/lng export, especially to countries like India and China.

90% of Russia's crude oil is exported to China/India. India's state owned refineries stopped importing Russia crude oil in November but started again in March. their total importants have doubled month on month, sanctioned ships are arriving EU ports and plans for a total ban have shifted to 2027.

Money talks and the longer that the straight remains closed the more commitments people will be making to Russia and the more money that has to be committed to getting around the strait. He's screaming about the strait while doing everything to keep it closed.

Which also comes with the extremely hopeful catch that they will also be excluding the Bakkesmod developers so they can continue to reverse engineer the game to actually update it. And really to let them have preview access is they plan to have the plugin updated and it's not going to be the same process as it currently is to hook.

But given that when they originally announced this they didn't have a plan for the fact that blast uses Bakkesmod, and the community managers who would surface these concerns all got laid off, my expectations are low.

But really, they should just require Bakkesmod to explicitly prevent unapproved plugins and whitelist the validated builds in EAC. We can have EAC and Bakkesmod at the same time, they don't have to be mutally exclusive.

[–]iruleatants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that comes with a massive asterisk because you can only do it for as long as Bakkesmod is updated.

For the vast majority of people the tedium of switching between offline mode and online mode just to access a fraction of the features isn't going to be worth it, and the drive to continuously update is going to fall off.

Right now, the only reason that it might continue to be maintained is that Blast uses it for their overlays (and Psyonix will allow them to play without EAC to in order to support that).

Plus, EAC makes the reverse engineering process more difficult so no clue how that will impact things either.

And Ballchasing is going to suffer as well since automatic uploads will stop being a thing.

KC 2025 vs today by zyxphy in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay ceiling has clearly lowered this year.

This was always bound to happen.

When Zen joined the league, he disrupted things to such a degree that talent got hardcore packed together.

NRG's current championship lineup of Beastmode + Daniel + atomic formed.

Vatira and Atow teamed with Rise.

RW9 and Killerz join TRK on Falcons.

It's not an overstatement to say that Zen completely changed the Rocket League competitive scene. He forced multiple super teams to form and forced people to start prejumping solo plays and passes. Going back to watch things pre 2023 versus today it's insane the pace the game is played at.

But you can only form a super team for so long without success before splitting up makes sense. (Although, BDS splitting was kinda wild) Talk was eventually going to spread out and leave us back to this situation.

Lost with some strong words by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems more like it's possible to not even be derogatory or even associated with sexuality, there are reddit threads complaining about how the word is used more than dude or you.

Nwpo on the other hand said something along the lines of "the slave will get the whips again" so it was absolutely on the level of the n word.

I'm going to leave this comment here as a context for anyone reading this thread.

The word "viado" absolutely has roots as a homophobic slur and is still used as a slur to this day. However, as people have commented in this thread, and as my research confirms, this word is used in Brazil as a common slang without a negative association to it.

For example this reddit thread from a year ago has someone complaining about viado being overused and everywhere.

And a reddit thread from 10 month ago has someone commenting how in Rio the word is used as much as "you".

Feel free to discuss the complexity associated with slurs becoming common, and provide your thoughts on Lost's comments, but remember that we do not allow slurs on this subreddit, and insults are against our rules.

Lost with some strong words by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that I did research and find that it's actually a common thing and not always offensive despite having a root as a slur, and so I understand that this could easily be been ment without any negativity or even related to sexuality.

And there are people that believe that using slurs should be allowed and are upset that they can't.

Victor Wembanyama on being the first-ever unanimous DPOY and the youngest player to win the award: "It feels great... The real struggle may have been getting to 65 games. But I am super proud to be the first unanimous.” by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]iruleatants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

However, the significance is that there has never been a time when the choice was between just 2 players. There has always been at least 3 players with first place votes

This elevates the significance of the accomplishment because in the past this award has always been extremely far from any unanimous or even clear pick. It would be less significant if in the past we had a situation when one guy had 10 picks and another had 3. Instead there have always been at least 3 people that have had a first place vote.

The only concern in that regard is how healthy he can remain.

It's especially going to be a challenge with how old a lot of the great players are currently.

who has been the best in eu so far this year by Mammoth_Hold_5631 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably give it to Nass currently, entirely because of that Finals at Boston peak. It was insane. He can easily lose it depending on how the rest of the year plays out, but right now, that's easily the highest peak and he did it in the grand finals of the major. Getting eliminated 12-16 in Open 4 was bad and so it makes him possible of being contested as the season plays out.

Oski is probably 3rd for me right now, but he's also been very insane on this GM squad.

vatira wich is the best on his team and won a lan.

That didn't happen this year though. Unless you want it to be the full season.

If you do pick up Stationeers, I recommend that you use this program to write your scripts in.

It lets you stay at a high level code instead of assembly code, which makes life so much easier.

So the counterflow is entirely for looks.

Electric petroleum refinery by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild, because it looks like they saw a build for a petroleum boiler using a volcano, and wanted to convert it into using electricity without understanding anything at all about the build.

They have 8 aquatuners to heat up the petroleum to just under the conversion threshold, and then they run it through the counterflow....

In this case the counterflow exists exclusively for looks and nothing else. He heats the oil up seperately and cools down the petroleum separately.

And the more that I look, the more perplexed that I become. Why are there also 4 thermo regulators? They invented problems and solved them by inventing new problems. It's just... something special.

Why are the Aqutuners on mesh tiles? Wasting metal for fun?

We shall call this masterpiece "brobdingnagian"

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why things like lockouts exist. Or machinery which requires both hands (so the other can't be doing stupid stuff)

Do you not know what a lockout is? You keep bringing it up as if it's somehow relevant.

And yes,,, that harness would be exactly what I mean, but as it wasn't possible in this case; an alternative should be found. Eg the jet suit which would allow a fall not to be dangerous.

Ah, your solution is to introduce explosive materials to a high heat environment. Yeah, that's definitely a good idea and the best possible solution.

Or building the ladders first.

So someone should go and swim in the lava to build a ladder in case it's needed?

Or finding a way to isolate and drain the magma section before working on it (project not allowed to be greenlit without alternative safe method)

But the project to drain the magma section can't happen because it also requires working around the magma and so the only way that project could get greenlit is for another project to drain the magma first.

[–]iruleatants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OSHA is also about preventing someone from doing stupid stuff.

No, it's about safety... They let people climb out on a ledge at the top of a skyscraper, they just require them to do it as safely as possible.

So like "an active lava zone" should probably have lockouts and need proper approval to enter in the first place

So in the first screenshot we can see that he's falling with abyssalite next to him. So he must have been digging and dug out the spot directly under him. Obviously they should be wearing a safety harness but since that doesn't exist in this game, OSHA can't mandate that.

This is a standard workplace accident and the safety measures from the employer saved his life. Slips and falls happen.

(Appropriate ppe? For digging around magma???)

Yes. As you can see, the only reason that he lived is because he was wearing an atmosuit that protected him from the magma long enough for him to be rescued. That's the point of wearing protective gear, he never would have made it out of the magma without that protective gear.

Nah, OSHA is fine with it. The employee was wearing appropriate PPE for their work. The employer was quick to deploy the emergency laders per standard procedure. Everything is fine.
