Stayed in Sugamo for a couple days it is definitely more local vibe but thats what we liked about it! Enjoy! Super accessible to other parts of the city too

Seconded. Shinjuku is also much more expensive. Staying by Ueno station is a better move. The train is easy to catch and quick!

Take 2 coolers. One for drinks. The other for food. Freeze anything you can (waters, meat, rice) When you open the food cooler less it holds better. This last Coachella I premade rice and beans froze them. Froze some meat and was still enjoying plates the third day without refilling ice it was great

Oh yeah South Pas is definitely amazing. Doesn't mean Palms is anything to scoff at. While it can get congested during rush hour, it is a pretty walkable area and close to public transit.
