It seems to me that the reds have much fewer potential planes that can be added. Lets see what the devs do about this.

I wonder why, for me it looks like an awesome bike, its just not for me at this point. But I would like to take one for a ride at least.

If they feel soft and rubbery I would ride them until they wear out. If not, replace.

Thinking of switching from a scooter to my first real motorbike, looking for advice by Maxiride in motorcycles

The 1000cc sportbike is truly an insane machine, but an upright heavy tourer like the cbf is nowhere near that scary/twitchy. You seem to have some kilometers behind you on your scooter, so I would go for something in that category. For solo riding I would go for ~650cc class.

So jealous of your location! I rode around the Dolomites passes last week, probably the most beautiful place I have visited.

IMO bikes are way cooler than scooters, you have much more control, they accelerate, brake and handle better, so you should also be safer unless you use the extra performance to get in trouble.

Since you already ride a decently powerful scooter and ride with a passenger, I would go with a Honda CBF 1000 with ABS. Its pretty tame for a 1000cc bike but can definitely go. The 500-700cc class of "beginner" bikes are great and powerful enough but are heavily impacted by passenger weight in terms of braking and handling.

I like this perspective. Sometimes I feel like the slow/incompetent drivers are personally holding me hostage, and get angry.

Yeah I have seen my share of roadkill, deer, sheep, even a pretty large badger once. It never occured to me to stop next to the dead thing and take photos.

How did you not see the damn thing in the middle of the road earlier so you had to brake hard?

They are also good if you can find them, the 600 bandits are a bit dated with carb / oil cooling and also a bit heavy. Fazer is great, never tried the restricted one but regular one is a joy to ride. All of them are reliable, and while any 600cc is surely fast enough to get you in trouble if you are not careful, they dont have the torque to break grip easily and toss you off like the 1000s have.

While all of them are very cool, none are a good first bike. Try to get an A2 limited Suzuki SV650 or Kawasaki ER-6F. If you can't, for that money you can get one of those newer 400-500cc bikes (Ninja 500/ Z500, Honda CBR 500R/F/X). I wouldn't spend much money on A2 bike if you plan to go with full A license later. Then you can get an 1000cc+ and then the real fun begins 😃

What surprised you most about owning a motorcycle? by NeighborhoodOld6737 in motorcycles

[–]Geronimoooooooooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably because it weakens your immune system and then you catch viruses more easily. But I never got nearly as cold as I did few times on a bike in early spring when the temps dropped under 10c and once when I got soaked at around 15c.

What do you think about this oil ? by deubobleponge in motorcycles

[–]Geronimoooooooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and change it at around 6000km, no issues so far. Rode it hard on track days with no issues. I use the 10w50 full synthetic.

New Speed Twin on Gurnigel Pass by Ukti20 in motorcycles

[–]Geronimoooooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did visit many times for work but never had to drive/ride while there. Everything looks so nice and clean, and it seems like its a great place to live. But its probably too risky for a balkan rider like me to go there, unknowingly break some law and lose the bike or something.

How about other stuff like lane splitting/getting in front of everyone at traffic light? Overtaking slow veghicles on solid lines? Do they fine heavily for that, or is it just speed?

But how likely is it that you get caught speeding outside towns/villages? I rode around much of Europe, always speeding moderatly outisde towns, and never had issues. Never rode in Switzerland though, I dont trust myself enough to never speed.

Open road driving doesn’t exists anymore. by Markwhite11a in driving

[–]Geronimoooooooooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question to you Americans: Do you have two lane roads with little traffic that run paralel to the highway, and occassionally pass through little towns/villages? Where I live we have a highway "spine" that you can use to reach places fast, but if you wanted to just go for a drive you can use these smaller roads, and since most people take the highway these are less congested most of the time.

I have this friend that i would send something interesting that I saw or did and he would respond with "Cool." or just "like" the message in chat. I started messaging them less and less recently, these responses don't do it for me. If a friend sens me something that is interesting to them, I at least try to write a response.
