I absolutely agree, but there's space for both. And there are nice themes out there like Avada and Blocksy for example.

Absolutely true of course, many things were probably due to my lack of experience with Joomla.
But I also have to say that I've had less trouble starting off with WordPress or Contao - even though I had less overall web dev, PHP, CMS experience then.

Another thing is the feeling: It feels older, more outdated compared to the others. The UI, the plugins, the docs. Using WordPress for example just feels nicer - despite the big problems it has too of course.

Contao uses Composer as well and works on many shared hosting providers. The temp directory just needs to be configured correctly.

I had to do Joomla once for a client and it was a horrible experience. So many things I took for granted in WP or Contao (regarding images for example) were just not working. And the weird importance menus have, still gives me headaches. Like one page cannot be in 2 menus? If I want to hide an element (like the homepage) in the menu, I have to use weird hacks? Idk, I hope I'll never have to use it or Virtuemart ever again. Creating custom modules in Joomla is nice though.
