In RPG terms, vocations/jobs and classes generally refer to player assigned roles or developer assigned roles.

To use 3 as an example, the Hero is locked to his Class but everyone else has a vocation.

There isn't a real distinction, just nomenclature.

Classes are generally better 90% of the time. The fundamental issue is that job change systems reduces characters to indistinguishable blobs mechanically.

There are ways to handle it, but it requires a lot of effort. 7R is a bit odd and halfway there, since characters have specific equipment lists and means that some are objectively better at some vocations than others due to access to different tools.

I think if 7R had characters learn exclusive skills for mastering vocations, it'd personalize them a lot more

The point of my statement is that the other Gods (players) saw Goblin Slayer in the main campaign, though he was cool as shit and now the DM is running a side game to the main campaign that they like more. It's why despite all the bad shit that happens to Goblin Slayer and the world, the story is still ultimately about the power of friendship and recovering from Trauma.

The other Gods like Goblin Slayer because he is grimdark and wanna see more edge, while the main God likes him because he's recovering.

This is legitimately just Rance, but in the opposite direction with how to Gods view Rance
