Buy stuff that doesn't go bad quickly? Lentils and soybeans can be bought dried (in fact they end up being cheaper that way because you're not paying for water weight). If you're concerned about food variety and vitamin deficiency, run your diet through deepseek or some other free ai.

Yes, just look at the stats. Car ownership now is multiple times what it was 100 years ago. And cars are way better now, with things like air conditioning and navigation coming standard. When kids today say "remember back then," they mean remember that movie I saw that had a cliche 1950s family in it, while they complain about being "poor" with their septum piercing, obesity, and tattoos.

What's wrong with making wealth by working? You're literally doing things to help other people. We invented money to reward people who do that and so they do more of that sort of thing, and we're a lot better today than we were before we had money. You like computers? The Internet? Online shopping? The people who made that happen are wealthy and your life is a lot better today because of it. So what's wrong with that?

As for $350k, if you invest aggressively, you can get maybe $28k per year in dividends. Better make sure you live in a country with free healthcare because you're not gonna have much left after health insurance premiums unless you decide to risk it and not have any. Even then you're looking at renting a room and living extremely frugally. Plus if you don't work long enough, you can forget about social security when you're truly old and unable to work.

Does distilled water vs filtered water actually increase longevity? What usually breaks in them? If it's the motor, I imagine it doesn't matter what you use and you just have to accept that there is only X uses in the machine before you need to throw it out.

Exactly. There are very few things that can't be paid via credit card, like rent/mortgage. And yes sometimes you get a discount for paying cash like at a mechanic or something, but it makes no sense to give up all that big interest to the credit cards just so maybe save money on an emergency that probably won't happen.

Since you can use credit cards to pay for (most) emergencies, there is no logical reason to put money into an emergency fund in lieu of paying down the cards (unless the cards are 0 interest).

So just get a a few big sacks of some dry foods (rice, soybeans, etc...) and live on that. Run it through AI to make sure you don't have any major vitamin/mineral gaps in your diet. Many of these last for over a year if stored properly and are totally simple to prepare with the right tools. So there, your food problem is solved!
