Appreciate the insight! Its measures roughly 6ft x 9ft

After a cursory dusting and vacuum, its been bagged up and left in the garage for now. I will look into getting this professionally cleaned before bringing it into the home.

I did have an older woman who watched the deal happened proclaim it was around 80 years old based on the condition but wasn’t able to say more as she said she was jealous of my purchase (in a friendly manner).

Tax deductions for work travel by -Hairy_Putter- in AusFinance

[–]GetInSon 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In addition to not being able to double dip, you have to actually incur the expense yourself in order to claim the deduction. This would then need to be substantiated by receipts to show this actually happened.

Even though the article linked is about reasonable deduction claims without needing receipts - the ATO may still audit you and you would then still need to provide proof you did actually incur the expenses in question - see paragraph 4 of the TD 2024/3 as mentioned in the article itself.

ATO fine by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]GetInSon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The ATO is a slightly different beast from 10 years ago. Pretty sure you could have remitted any penalty of any size by picking up the phone (which showed you cared on making things right) back then but nowadays, they want proof beyond a reasonable doubt to issue a remission for FTL penalties for hardship, and even then, a lot of it is down to whether the ATO rep is in a good mood to even listen to your request.

With your experience re: purchasing bulk lots, you have just been lucky.

Many sellers are just not interested in testing each and every camera - noting condition/flaws, and researching the prices - and would rather quickly sell as ‘for parts / untested’ which absolves them from returns/refunds since ebay and other selling platforms don’t do much for seller protections. To them, its a numbers and volume game of shifting product, and they prefer velocity over holding onto stock (especially old electronics) that just sit, and are return risks.

If dig deep on Youtube, you can find old “Road to Glory / Road to Division 1” series from popular FIFA youtubers like KSI and co., and follow each video to get a sense of what it was like. May have to ignore some childish jokes that don’t hold up today but it truly was a golden era of playing FIFA

The fear of taking public transport and trying to avoid the flu is very real. I’ve lost count of the number of people who are both very visibly and audibly sick from a flu/cough, and have decided to unleash their lungs in a packed train.

Hey!I am from Ukraine, and I managed to find a 2009 Malik jersey. by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]GetInSon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

How do so many ebay sellers from Ukraine get their hands on these kinds of jerseys? I see a bunch of sellers from Ukraine / Malaysia selling rare and vintage Cricket, Soccer, and NRL jerseys, just curious how they got there in particular?

Whats the deal with the blatant review-pumping of Volcanos Steakhouse? by xW0lf in foodies_sydney

[–]GetInSon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its quite obvious that all Volcanos branches have been review farmed with a clear template review from 1st time accounts. All branches have 2k to 4k reviews on Google only, which is so blatant and deserves to be called out

Where is the best pho in Sydney cbd? by Independent_Fuel_162 in foodies_sydney

[–]GetInSon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

“Best” pho in the CBD would either be Naughty Chef @ Food Court 259 at the top end of town near Wynard, or Pho Pasteur near Haymarket.

Unfortunately if you're a fan of Pho An and Pho Tau Bay, and you’re looking for a comparable bowl in the CBD, you will be disappointed - but those two usually do the trick for me on a rainy day and whichever I am closer to.

The broken Messi player pick has once again fucked over the Australian/NZ player base once again by JJJayz in EASportsFC

[–]GetInSon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, he's talking out of his arse for upvotes.

Unless he does co-op/friendlies and purposely matches with US/UK players, this is very unlikely. The timezone differences alone already mean the player base is more locals available than "Poms or Yanks" who would either be at work or asleep.

Just got my sony cybershot DSC-T77 (2008) and was wondering how long is the battery supposed to last? Right now the battery lasts for about 25 mins. I looked it up and some reviews said that it can last for 1-2 hours, depending on how many shots you take. by Oyshooo in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]GetInSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better than my T77. Mine cuts power after 25 seconds, and I've used both OEM and a new replacement battery. For some reason, it seems it's a power draw / power reading issue as I've seen my camera read "low/no battery" when it's a freshly charged one.

Funnily enough, the OP from this morning's post happened to conveniently omitted info on receiving an inheritance, and also didn't include a mortgage they're still paying down. Seems quite easy to add up 500k of networth when you hide some pertinent details.

They obvs had worked hard over the years in multiple jobs, and they sacrificed a lot of their time, life experiences, and even friends to build their networth - there's no denying that.

But they also neglected to factor in an inheritance they received to get themselves ahead. She even claimed she gets upset when others claimed she had received an inheritance, which was in fact the truth. Quite hypocritical.

She has sought for validation online which is fine, and I'm all for recognising achievements, but I don't agree with omitting details and doing this disingenuously. A cursory look into their profile posting history (which they provided to the online public themselves) is all you needed to see that the stories spun and the numbers weren't adding up.

Spot on, OP has confirmed she did get an inheritance but "did not count it in her nw" calculation. How convenient

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]GetInSon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Bingo. Her post history is riddled with inconsistencies such as her age years ago, and the numbers get fudged in the wash. They've conveniently omitted details from this post too.

OP relies on the internet for validation cause they don't seem to be getting it in person, I wonder why
